I would really want to know what you guys think of my Death Korps of Krieg army list (normal IG codex rules though).
I would really appreciate your opinion on how I should use my army and if I should add or lose some of units.

This is the list:

Lord commissar with power weapon and carapace armour: 90 pts

PCS with standard bearer, plasma gun, power weapon: 70 pts

Infantry squads with grenade launcher: 55 pts

Infantry squads with grenade launcher: 55 pts

Infantry squads with flamer: 55 pts

Infantry squads with flamer: 55 pts

HWS all with autocannons: 75 pts

Veteran squad with carapace armour and 3 melta guns: 130 pts

Vendetta: 130 pts

2 Medusas with heavy flamers: 270pts

Total: 985 pts

Further information: my idea was to put all infantry squads into one big unit, and add the lord commissar. Then put the PCS behind the big unit and give the unit (with a LD of 10) orders. The Vendetta will be used as a transport for my veterans, to put them right behind the enemy's heavy weapons.

Can't wait to hear from you!

- Blood ravens 5th company- 2000 pts
- Honour guard of T'au- 1500 pts
- Death korps of Krieg 177th regiment- 1000 pts

Hi,

Drop the upgrades from your PCS and give it cheaper special weapons.

Drop the carapace on the vets.

Use the points to get a normal commissar for the infantry squads and a smattering of power weapons for the squads.

Your Lord Comm is vulnerable to getting singled out in CC then your large blob will break. I would be tempted to upgrade his power weapon to a fist, too.

Also, don't squadron the Medusas.

EDIT:

List might look like:

LC, PFist, Camo Cloak

PCS, 3 GL
4x IS, Commissar with Power Weapon, 3x Power Weapon, 2x Meltagun
HWS, 3x Autocannon

Veterans, 2 Meltagun

Vendetta

Medusa, HF
Medusa, HF

Would be worth while to swap the HWS for a Hydra, if you can.

Thanks a lot man, really helps!
Question though, why would I want to take out the carapace out of my veteran squad, and why would i give the blob melta guns over flamers and GL?

Carapace on guard isn't really worth it, there is too much AP4 weaponry out there, just look through the Guard Codex. It's only really worth it on vets if you are trying to prevent get's hot or death by chimera explosion, as the rest of the time they'll either be in vehicles or cover so won't be using armor.

I guessing he suggested blobing melta because the current meta is vehicle heavy and most players run MEQ. I my current blob I run melta.

Oh and personally i wouldn't take the lord Commissar, CCS is alway my first HQ of choice.

Whats your local meta?

From the list you have almost nothing to stop Armor.

Fair enough on the carapace argument. About my lack of armor stopping weaponry; i've got 3 twin linked melta guns on my vendetta, and a veteran squad with 3 melta guns (+2 medusas that have potential for taking down armor too). Is that really not enough?

I personally enjoy carapace on vets coming out of a valk/detta. Lets them live a little longer, even more so if your going against SM. Bolter, flamer, frag missile ect all ap5. But it 's pretty point heavy, more so at this level. Now you could replace carapace armor with demolitions. Drop in with your detta, drop your vets, democharge them, then melta whats left.

Now I would agree on taking meltas over flamers and GL's. Though the advatage of the flamers and GL's is you don't have to worry about your BS3.
A fun options would also to deck out your CCS for close combat and add Straken. He's a beast, more so if you put him next to a blob! He's fearless and adds furious charge to any unit with in 12'.

My suggestion is this, take meltas and power swords with a commissar in your blob, take straken and meltas and charge them at, well, whatever the hell you want dead! lol

You could drop your artty and go for another Vendetta and vet squad too. Just an idea.

Hope that helps!

3 Twin linked Lascannons sound awesome until you lose your vendetta the first turn. I always lost mine by at the most turn two and even twin linked , BS 3 still misses, then you still need to pen.

Invaluable advices once again. I think you're right about the vendetta dying too soon to do any good, and I would love to see my blob bayonetting enemies with a furious charge! Thank you guys very much, I will most definitely try to work with what you have given me.
