Considering dropping Duke + trueborn unit due to its total cost but they usually treat me well.
Possibly replacing them with a venom w/ splinter cannons filled with trueborn w/ splinter cannons. If then which HQ has worked well for you guys?

Warriors x10 Blaster, Dark Lance, Raider w/ DL, NS, FF 210 NS on a boat that needs to be within 12" is not worth it, unless you're keeping it still so the *single* KWarrior DL can shoot? Bad plan, man. Switch that to a blaster, drop the NS, and bring these boys in closer.

I'm not fond of the whole list having heavy weps, (KWarrior DLs & TrueBorn SPlintCans). Mobility is an advantage that isn't synergized with those heavy weps. I'd switch all to blsters.

That list as i played it operated at 36 inches for as long as possible. Turns 4 5 6 i would move when necessary using blasters.
So when i wasn't moving i would get 2 shots (possibly 3) and when moving in close i would get 2.
Night Shields seem worth the points many times over against Nids and Grey Knights as most their dex's shooting goes from 24" to 18"

Why run the duke if you are not abusing witches? I would expect to see some squads for drug re rolls.
You have his gunboat tricked out right, using the cannons as assault 4 if you move. That is a hell of a lot of poison. You could probably switch to DL ravagers if you have a unit that can shoot like this.
I agree with dropping the darklances. You might stay at 3 feet, but you are stuck in place. If you use his deep strike ability then they cant fire the dark lance. Get some witches for contraband abuse and assault, maybe some blasterborn and drop warriors to squads of 5 in venoms instead of raiders.

Basically i was using him for the 3+ poison > trueborn. Occasionally i would run him out and counter assault a unit to get the gun boat away safely.
As i said before i play alot of nids and they roll up and die to consistent poison.
I won a Venom saturday and i think i can make a good replacement for his 393 point gunboat by taking a 5 man squad of trueborn w/ carbines and splinter cannons in a double splinter cannon venom. Much cheaper.
Now that i did that i'm considering cutting him out since i won't be running witches. I am fishing for some ideas as to other HQs i could replace him with.
The ravagers are built as noted in the original post, i have 11 raiders to work with (2 with disintegrators, 7 with lances, and 2 with either.) and just a single unbuilt venom. Thanks

Keep his gunboat rolling strong, it is an excellent lawnmower(if you keep the duke). You could always go blasterborn in your venom, or put the 5 warriors with the blaster in a venom.
If you cut him, malays is an ok option for redeploy abuse, good if you plan on sitting still. But a hamey with a liquifier works just fine too. Nice and cheap.
Dark lances start to add up in price, not to mention having to field ten warriors to get access to one. The rest of the unit sits as deadweight for most of the game. For the cost of 5 warriors and darklance you can get a raider with a flickerfield. You could even use the duke to deepstrike in everything and use splinter cannons instead of darklances for more crowd control dakka. Also gets the blaster and lance in close. Maybe take the duke in a unit like this to cut trueborn costs.
