Tactical Notes: Ok, 3 10-man squads in metal boxes, so we are fine with troops, and transporting them. Melta-weapons everywhere for AV12+, with some mobility (Land Speeder), capabilities of alpha-striking (Dreadnought in DropPod) and mixed-bag (Veterans+Librarian's CombiMelta). We have 4 autocannons (ok, no psybolt ammos and such!) for some stunlocking. And heavybolters for incoming footslogging threats.

Ideas of improvement: I always liked Missile Launcher more than Multi-Meltas, because of the 24" range and such. Missiles are good for camping objectives and their S8Vp3 is an optimal Istant-Death against MEQ...so I could be switching some MultiMeltas (1-2 from tactical squads) and an Autocannon (from the Gunner Dreaddy) to Missile Launcher.

Known Issues: I know, excluding normal bolters, 17 Weapons out of 23 of this list would GREATLY benefit from Vulkan He'stan, but I already have a bunch of UltraSmurf, and I think that adding the Big Green Guy just for the sake of (a much needed and maybe deserved upgrade!) winning doesn't appeal me that much.

Here's what I would do, keeping your same philosophy and intent.

Ditch the 3rd Tac squad, ditch force dome

add larger sternguard squad, null zone (since you have AP 3 bolters), add drop pod for sternguard and other dread, add some power weapons and melta bombs if you have points left over. Give both new pods locator beacons

Now you can drop Dread and sternguard on same turn... deploy dakka dread and reserve his pod (#3). Libby can gate around with sternguard, but now have three pods to beacon off of. For the same cost you could switch two combi to meltas (lose rapid fire, but gain some serious hurt). If you like just gating with 5, combat squad the other 5 sternguard and leave them as a gun force.

Interesting ideas, but wouldn't I adding easy Victory Points (more pods) and worsen my ability of taking objectives (less scoring troops), and then worsening every type of game?

Combi to Meltas are a real great idea, thank you, I will use it!

Well, to me it comes down to philosophy. Are you playing to win or not to lose? Pods added 2 VP, but no tactical and its rhino -2. So you're fine there. You can capture 4 objectives with 2 tac squads, and remember rhinos and pods can contest objectives. You only need to control one and contest/deny others to win. Fire directed at pods is fire not directed at something else (if they're popping pods early game, stupid them).

I would be sure to attack one flank turn one. Have two pods head onto the board at the same spot your 2 rhino's hall under smoke cover towards. You can then put some serious hurt on a smaller portion of your opponents force. Use the sterngaurd to go after vehicles and units in cover, while the dread pops heavy armour (or goes after IC) and the tacts rapid fire at infantry. Move the preds and dakka dread along the same flank, so that anything closing on them will have to deal with the rest of your force too. 30 Infantry supported by 2 dreads and 2 preds can really turn a flank on your opponent. Anytime you put the majority of your fire power onto one segment of his force, you can set up a defeat in detail (which is code for step 1 in tabling).

Extra points into melta bomb or PW or PF for sargs can make them real force multipliers (or for combi flamers if you know you'll see orks and IG). The multi meltas might be tough to use, as you should keep everything on the move, but that's the nature of the heavy weapon in a tac squad anyway (which is why I hope they add HW or another special in 6e).

I'm a go big, try to table, all or nothing kinda player. The games I've lost have mostly been to lack of scoring units, the ones I've won have mostly been to tabling by not sinking points into sub par scoring units. If that's not your flavor of risk taking / game play then ignore my advice and go with the internet wisdom of 3 scoring minumum.
