It's their best melee unit and the best way to get them close to your enemy. Then it dawned on me that Creed can do the same thing Al'rahem does, so you could have two full platoons flanking an enemy. The idea is to start the game with both platoons in reserve and have creed surrounded by the russ' to give him a AV14 shield till the platoons arrive. Till then you still have x5 russ' shotting at 3 different targets. Once the platoons come in you have 6x scoring units all with melta guns, power swords and commissars. Ideas, thoughts, suggestions, fire away!

Creed's ability wouldn't allow you to outflank another platoon. His entry specifically states you can outflank a UNIT; a platoon is not a unit, it is a FOC choice.
You can still do an outflank list, you'd just need to stick your other platoon, or perhaps some veterans instead, into a few Valkyries or Vendettas.

Hmm, I might have to post that question in the You Make the Call area, because I'm not sure if thats right. I'm not arguing, I'm just not 100% I agree. lol
But! If you are right, I could just blob the second platoon as into a single 40 man squad and the second PCS would have to deploy as normal. Could just trim a few things and give them a chimera aswell so they can survive more then a round. Automatically Appended Next Post: As sad as it makes me to remove that second platoon I think your right creeping deth, so I'll go with your suggestion.

There is another way to outflank those vets intead of wasting them in a vendetta which should be firing at range.
Creed allows one unit to outflank. That's one vet squad in a chimera.
A second vet squad with Harker in chimera can outflank.
Also, penal legion squads can outflank.
Also, storm troopers can outflank in chimeras, but they are $$$$.
CCS w/ creed, astropath
Chimera
PCS w/ al-rahem
Chimera
Infantry 5x10 w/ commissar x3
SWS x2 w/ grande launcher (go in vendetta)
Vendetta x2
Vet 1x10 w/ melta x3
Chimera
Vet 1x10 w/ melta x3, harker
Chimera
LRBT x3
You have about 100 points for power weapons and/or assault weapons for the CCS/ PCS.
Three chimeras and 90+ infantry outflanking

This looks a little more solid. I personally wouldn't use Creed, but he works in a foot list and the Honour of Cadia order would be pretty devastating with the power blob setup you have. Is his Chimera outflanking with his ability?
I'd consider finding space for a 3rd Valkyrie or Vendetta and another Veteran squad, maybe with plasma (I have a thing for plasma so this is a biased suggestion ). Also if most of your units are outflanking, I'm not sure the Russes and the Basilisk jive well with everything else you're bringing to the field. It's great long range support, but the fact that they won't be coming in with your outflankers would irk me (I like having my units concentrated). If this doesn't bother you, then by all means keep'em in.

The list is fine. The only thing I would change, but this is only because I don't like LRBT in squadrons, is obviously to ditch two of the tanks or one tank and the bassie. Also the demolitions on the melta vets makes for a bloated squad. Use the points to add another fast attack and chimeras, and a second CCS with chimera if points allow.

Creep, I too love plasma over melta myself, but when going airborne I feel melta is better since you can assault with it and take down tanks.
As for Creed and his outflanking, he being part of that isn't a bad idea either since he could issue some great orders to the blob.
Barks, I can't say that I agree. I think demolitions doesn't bloat out the vets at all. It allows them to demo whatever their about to assault, weaken it, then the vets normally can finish it off. It's a little risking, but highly effective when it works and worth the points.
Over all, I think I'll keep working with the list, I'm just dissapointed I couldn't do that with two whole platoons. lol

Calling him a creep is a bit much. The list wasn't that bad ...

lol, I don't think he was calling me a creep, I think he was just abbreviating my screen name.
LordofSins, you'll probably find a lot of people on here who are advocates of dropping the Russ squadrons and taking the doctrines off your veterans because the whole idea with Guard is to be lean and mean, but these choices are still FUN and I don't think you have to drop them. Russ squadrons, while being more fragile, are also that much more terrifying. The demo charges on your vets would also be the worst nightmare for, say... Paladins, or any flavour of Terminator squad.
Happy hunting!
