This is my current IG list in progress thats mostly based on just what I have minus a few sentinels and what not. As of the moment I plan to either get rough riders next or more guardsmen, I'm not sure. In the two games I played this list both were a draw so its hard to say what I should do next.

Keep in mine this is a mostly infantry theme I'm sticking to, meaning few if any vehicles. I only currently plan for it to be causal to somewhat competitive.

Hey,

I think 1000 points is too small to field Ogryn, they take up a huge amount of points which you really want to be spending on some more shooty-ness.

I wouldn't take the Mortars - you already have lots of anti-infantry shooting from your infantry squads.
You should take Commissar's in one squad in each platoon - they are vital for keeping squads fighting, better at receiving orders and denying killpoints with combined squads.

The other option you have is to take one, larger platoon and a squad of vets for the 2nd troop choice - you'll save points by not having to have two PCS and maybe get away with not having two commissars.

My suggestion would look something like:

CCS, MoO, Lascannon.
Psyker Battle Squad (9+1)
Platoon
- Platoon Command, 2 melta
Infantry Squad, meltagun, PW, Commissar, PW
Infantry Squad, meltagun, PW
Infantry Squad, meltagun
Infantry Squad, Grenade Launcher
Heavy Weapon Squad; Autocannons
Heavy Weapon Squad; Autocannons
Heavy Weapon Squad; Lascannons
Veteran Squad, Lascannon
Rough Riders x9

More Meltaguns, Lascannons, Power Weapons with up to 40 Stubborn Infantry and Rough Riders for counter-attacking from Reserves.
You've also got the choice with KP missions to blob all four squads together or, in non-KP games to blob up two or three squads with melta to move up to objectives while the grenade squad can stay back and shield your Heavy Teams/CCS. Vets sit on any home objective and snipe away.

Your right, they have proved to be more amusing than useful. On one occasion they killed around 300pts of nids before being charged by 3 separate units at once which still didn't kill them all until they failed there leadership test and ran. I'll save them for a 2k list.

I wouldn't take the Mortars - you already have lots of anti-infantry shooting from your infantry squads.

Mortars have probably got to be hands down my favorite IG unit, there cheap and extremely annoying. There has yet to be a game were they haven't killed at least there point value worth of enemy models or held up something useful due to pinning.

You should take Commissar's in one squad in each platoon - they are vital for keeping squads fighting, better at receiving orders and denying killpoints with combined squads.

Your right once again, I actually originally had one or so in the list but took them out list minute.

More Meltaguns, Lascannons, Power Weapons with up to 40 Stubborn Infantry and Rough Riders for counter-attacking from Reserves.

I'm not sure about more Lascannons since most of the people I play against don't have many vehicles but I agree with everything else.

I will post a revised list soon.
