I'd rather have a company cut their prices while acknowledging Memorial Day than a foreign company raise their prices on Memorial Day.

If that was a dig at GW's most recent pricing adjustment, I have to point out that GW, being British, has no notion of your American holidays, and no reason to honor them.

Privateer Press did the same sale last year when GW announced their price rise. Good to see they're doing it again, even if they're calling it a Memorial Day sale. Which is something a LOT of companies in America do, especially Auto Retailers.

I am unfamiliar with warmachine pricing are these deals good and are the armies playable....

unlike GWs promotions for only slightly reduced cost battleforces that are for the most part unplayable, or noncompetitive.

Yes, they're good deals. The models in the Khador one(the most expensive) are $140 USD retail reduced to $126 USD PLUS a free $30 USD rulebook.

Most of the deals(aside from the Warpacks) look to be full of stuff that most armies in that faction will use(the Khador one is 3 rocketeers shy of the standard Winterguard Deathstar).

The deal is pretty good, You save about 50$ and on top of that you get a free rulebook, can't go wrong with that.

also 25 pts of warmachine is great for a decent sized game, i generally see the standard being played around 25/35/ and 50pts respectively.

I scrolled through most of them, they're very playable, and a good deal. If I could get interested in WM again I'd definitely take advantage.

sale.....I've never heard of that space marine unit :?

they all seem to be good deals but the only one I'm interested in (khador) I already have the battle box so it would be cheaper to just buy the other things :3 that being said these are some pretty good deals.....if only other companies did bundles at affordable prices :/

Sell off the Battlebox to someone else.

Also, FTFY. Most miniatures companies DO do affordable bundles.

Totally highjacking this forum... but...

What is easier for a new player to learn warmachine or hordes. And what is easier to find a game for? I know they can be played together is it really common and do the games mesh well?

Easier? I'd say Warmachine, but it's not really much(if at all) different. I just find that some people find Fury harder to grasp when learning than Focus.

Warmachine vs Hordes games are so common, referring to them as separate games is really more of semantics.

Yeah, they're basically the same game, anyone who refused to play against an army from the other game would definitely get some weird looks, I'm still confused as to why Privateer feels the need to call them separate games. I've had people find it easier to learn either system, so it's really up in the air. Warmachine's rules are simpler, but some people just find Hordes easier to play.

If I could afford it right now I'd be happy to grab a new faction. *sigh* Being a student sucks, always broke.

hmmm, thats not a bad idea though but then again I could always just convert one of the jacks to beast09, Icould use another cannon jack and also sorcha is pretty convertable to Esorcha so I might pick one up after all XD

Well after doing some research I think I will pick up a Retribution of Scyrah bundle. I like the models and they don't have a starter pack so this is a good opportunity to save some money

and the free rulebook is really nice touch.

Good by GW! A new game system with a playable army, and rules all for less than the cost of a Storm Raven and box of 5 troupers LoL.

Ret is the newer kid on the block and have less options overall because they released at the tail end of MK1. That said, they're fantastic, and it shouldn't deter you from them at all.

Seems like you both missed the point of the original conversation.

Regardless, it seems this sale is a "Summer Sale" and not a Memorial Day sale.

I think its great they have the sale especially when a rival company hikes prices. I bought a box set last year and I continue to purchase from them. Good business sense. Remember if you don't take care of the customer someone else will.

Really? I served deep in the suck, and I love Memorial Day sales, if for the simple reason that it's an excuse to get stuff at a reduced price. What better way to be thanked for your service (probably a lot of ways, actually)?

Better than hiking the prices instead, like a certain company we know.
