Subject: Orky conversions and Terrain. STOMPA WAAAGH

Hey Dakka, I was recently reading some P&M blogs and thought that I would try my inexperienced hand at it...
I've been into wargames for a while now, but Warhammer 40K is relatively new for me, I started about two years ago, but I never really got into it. Then a couple months ago my LGS added Games Workshop to their shelves, and I am now back in, although my wallet was screaming for me to turn and flee . Recently I have been making terrain, because I love making it and because the store needs some for the games we play there. Also, you should know that I am a really unmotivated painter I usually only paint two or three models at a time, and when you play Orks that’s a problem... Ok, now I will get to the models and terrain. Please enjoy, and even though this needs not to be said, feedback would be really nice, as I said before, I am very inexperienced at this... And so, no more pausing, here we go.
This was my first ever piece of Warhammer 40K, I used polystyrene for the base and some sort of sheet grass for the grass (duh). then I painted the base black and dry-brushed the equivalent of Scorched Brown onto it and on that a layer of Khemri Brown. The trees are Clump Foliage glued to twigs.
This one was made to look like it would fit in near a swamp, hence the dead trees... Anyway those were also made from twigs, and some sort of dyed cotton, that works fairly well. the base is the same as the previous one
Here is a better view…
This one is the same as the first but done better, well, I think so at least...
A couple more views...
This one is pretty cool, my friend (who does not play any form of wargames) found Battle for Macragge at a yard sale for one dollar, and being the awesome person she is she bought it for me. It was complete for the most part, a few pieces were missing... But I was still pretty stoaked
I hope to get some more terrain finished soon, I hope you enjoyed those.
Next is da Tankbustas these boyz were fun to model and to a lesser extent paint. Sorry for the poor photos I really am an amateur at this, so bear with me...
This first Bustas' rokkit was made from a looted drop pod Death Wind, (my brother plays Space Marines) he can double as a loota if need be.
This one is just a boy with an axe; the blade was replaced with a rokkit, counting as a tank hammer.
This one's rokkit is just a shorter version of the standard, wielded in one hand.
And finally this boyz is a slugga' that has been modified to a rokkit pistol. Huzzah for orky tinkerin'
Sorry about the blurry photo...
That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed it, and please comments, critizms, anything is welcome...
Coming next time...

No replys...? oh well, I'll have an update up soon anyways.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well, it's time for an update, as promised this time i will be showing my converted loota, this is him.
I used a tau burst cannon for his gun... but it seems to work better for the tau...
Here's one that needs to be painted, more coming soon...
Next up is my Warboss, Da Dok's Boy, He was a blast to model, I used a kan's drill bit for his arm, and then glued on some extra ones, for his others. In the game I usally give him a cybork body to simulate all da' gubbins' in 'im.
Ok well thats all for now, next time I hhope to have some more terrain finished, and a few more lootas painted for you guys.

Hey hey,
Nice stuff in here. As weird as it sounds it has never occurred to me to use twigs in scenery, as I thought it wouldn't look right, but the terrain you've made looks great.
Love the warboss by the way, he looks like a mutant hulk!

Thanks man! I really appreciate it!
Oh, and the warboss is a converted Hulk sorry I forgot to mention that... Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok, well as promised I will be showing some more of my Lootas, so here they are.
Hope you enjoy!
Ok, next up is my unfinished Waaagh banner, all it currently needs is basing... also the idea isn't mine... it came from mini-wargaming, so kudos to them.
These next couple are for size measurement...
And my final peice for now is my Nob with a PK, he was made from a nob model (duh) and the PK is a regular one with the klaw's taken off and replaced with scout chainswords.
More to come soon.

Hey man love your hulk warboss
I've used twigs as trees aswell, they work so well, and are so easy to use. I'd try and stick to thicker twigs though, my poor skinny trees just keep getting smaller and smaller as bits fall off :(
Keep it up

Liking the grunge look you gave your orks as well.

All right, well this summer I am working at a Wilderness camp, and there for will have very little time to paint and model my orks. Also the area I am in has very little acess to the internet. (the uppermost reaches of ME if any of you guys live north of bangor you know what I mean.) So I will not be able to post in here for a while. But when I come back I will be better than ever! well at least I hope.
So cheers for now, see you at the end of the summer.

Nice work! Glad to see you seem to have sorted out the earlier photography - though some of the later stuff is from a bit far away to fully appreciate. Scenery looks good - simple and functional. When putting so much effort into kustomizin' da boyz I can only stress making sure to cover off the little things as well - mold lines and drilling barrels. Have a good summer!

Your terrain is coming along nicely aswell, have you thought about making an ork fort ?

Something I'd like to point out, with all that Dakka, your lootas could probably also work as Flash Gitz. I'm really loving the conversions here, I'll follow this thread with great interest.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the kind words! I really appreciate it! You can expect more of an update soon!
@Paranoia_agent, I had actually started making a fort for da’ orks, but I had to leave it in America, perhaps I will try my hand at it again! As for a wagon, we’ll have to wait and see… I have always harbored a great love for looted vehicles
@Smitty, Yeah, I thought about that, and actually I did originally make them as flash gits, but I run a Kan wall army, and I need all heavy support slots for kans/dreads
