I thought I read somewhere that troops disembarking from a Wave Serpent or Falcon, but now I can't find it. Can you help with:
Can a unit disembarking (or otherwise behind a skimmer transport) fire normally (without penalty) at units on the other side of the transport?
Do units that just disembarked get a cover save or does the transport BLOS?
We also had a situation where a WS was immobilised between two impassable pieces of terrain during my opponent's shooting. The Banshees disembarked and I wanted to have them clamber over the vehicle (with a difficult terrain check) since the bases wouldn't fit between the WS and the terrain, my opponent wanted to have me go around the impassable terrain. I thought since you can climb on a vehicle to assault (and be shot at while doing it) I could climb over my own vehicle, but I couldn't find anything to support that. Thoughts?
We played it as 4+ cover saves all around and I ran the banshees around the impassable, but I wanted to consult the hive mind. Page numbers are always appreciated.

You will need to go down to a model's eye view of the situation and determine whether cover is applied based on the cover rules.
The presence of the transport itself does not grant cover, but it's LOS blocking profile could depending on the position of the firer and firee in each of the scenarios listed above.
You cannot climb on a vehicle unless it is wrecked (or in the case of exploded, the crater). Automatically Appended Next Post: Pages 21-23 of the Main Rulebook

They can shot, but they count as moving, if they disembarked (page 67, BRB). If the vehicle blocks line of sight, then it blocks line of sight.

They will receive a cover save if the firing unit can only draw line of sight to less then 50% of the models in the unit. Using True line of sight. (pages 21-23, BRB)

Models may not occupy the same space at the same time (page 11, BRB). If the vehicle were wreaked, then becoming difficult terrain, you would of been able to climb over. Since it was still an "in play" model, being only immobilized, you can not.

Or if the unit can draw LOS to 100% of the unit but more than 50% is partially blocked.

There's that, too.

At least 50%. Not more than 50%.
If half or more of the models in the targeted unit have cover from the perspective of half or more of the firing models, the targeted unit gets cover.
