Just bought some forge fathers veterans. It's my first unit so it will be a while until I through down with a legit army but I'm excited to play around with some different paint schemes. I'm thinking red!

Yes they are lovely little models aren't they! I think the 'veteran' upgrade really makes the overall squad look better.

After trying out a number of different schemes, I went with a dark red, green and burnished gold look in the end.

What does the Veteran upgrade pack include.

You get some extra metal heads and bodies, along with a missile launcher guy. Just means they look a bit more 'sci-fi' than the standard Steel Warriors set (some pics below).

Sweet I'll have to pick that up. I did get some spare metals head. I'm going to try to have as few bear head as possible.

Weren´t they going to change that to plastics?

For those parts, as far as I know there was no plan.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Forge Fathers got a whole lot more attention after the Kings of War kickstarter is finished.

Sorry that was a bad and vague way to say that. I just meant I bought spare heads(in plastic) that are helmeted. I don't love the face/beard sculpts of all the minis so I'm going to try for a helmeted army.

I like the concept of the bearded helmet.

I'm a huge fan of the plastic helmeted heads that come with them normally.
After brainstorming on what to paint mine, I just went with blue and gold.
Red and gold would look ace as well.

Yes they are really nice. I went for the commonly dwarvish red-gold colours for mine. There is also some silver on there, but it doesn't come out particularly well in the photo.

I am waiting for vehicles.

It will be nice to get some vehicles. I need to look through the list carefully and get a feel for what units are in it. I am thinking of trying a very urban feel where I minimize the use of metallics but I'm still toying with ideas. I'm thinking of black garb with grey armor accented with a bright orange, and still maybe red.
