I need some help making sure I get this right on the first try. I am looking to put a lot of banners in my army that need to be a specific symbol for each one that I will be making via Photoshop. Because I am Photoshopping it I need to be able to print the banners off since I cannot free hand what I am looking to do.

Has anyone done this before and what is a good product to use? Are there any special hoops to jump through? I have heard about printable cloth but that's about it and I don't know much about it.

Thanks.

you can get waterslide transfer paper and print on to that {theres a few kinds to use dependant on the type of printer you have} and just put these on plane plastic banners ..

Sadly I don't have plastic banners, although it would be possible to make them. I am hoping there is something that can be printed and stand on its own that looks cloth like, or can easily be made to look cloth like.

I print onto matte full-page lables and cut them out. The superfine detail isn't as good as a gloss, but it looks more like fabric to me.

I had my photoshop designs printed onto canvas in a local copy shop. The result was really good (sry don't have pics of the models).
Why imitate cloth if you can get it on real cloth?

I believe this will interest you greatly

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

id be tempted to print onto high quality glossy photo paper then mount that to thin brass or aluminium so you can ripple and bend it. With a few coats of matt varnish it should look good and will hold its shape.

Metal than thin is dangerous if you ever have children or animals near your models tho, so be careful with them.

*edit* i think id get them printed by a photo printing service actually. Youd have uv fade resistant inks then. Plus it would be cheaper as you could fit a few banners on one small photo print.

I printed onto iron on transfers, put on an old t-shirt, and cut out, a little watered down pva glue to stiffen and shape the banner and viola, a cloth banner that holds it's shape.

I did this back in 4th with my BT army, army standard and all sgts had banner poles with squad markings
