Sounds kinda smart, actually.

Someone (RiTides?) was worrying about when the scams would start showing up on crowd-funding sites, so cautionis advisable.

NOTE: I am NOT saying that this one is a scam! I am merely saying that if people want our hard earned money, then they need to get a bit more done upfront...

While I agree you should put a link to your company on the campaign page.. a 3 second google search provided this:

One thing that could help, the Indiegogo should probably read "28mm Plastic Multi-part Zombie Miniatures- By Studio Miniatures"

Does the world need more 28mm zombie figures?

I would argue that crowdfunding sites should be used for the kind of stuff that is not commercially viable because it is too off the wall, not because it faces too much competition.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

This is exactly what kind of project that crowd funding sites are for.

Studio Miniatures do some of, if not the, best zombie miniatures out there. Their plastic zombie Germans look great.

I am probably in for at least $100.00, maybe $200.00. Especially if they get some female scupts done as well.

Why would you argue that? What does off the wall have to do with crowd funding sites in any way shape or form? Why do you want to restrict other people choice based on your preconceived notions?

on topic now......... I will wait to see if he comes up with anything a little more concrete. I wouldn't mind doing $100 and based on his previous work I am not too worried but I personally would prefer to see something more than just an idea.

These guys have been out for quite awhile. Though the German zombies seem new, the batch packages are top notch deals on quality zombies. Perfecto for those AFMBE, and all things zombie.

Zombie skirmish games? these guys look good for the go!

Just what the market needs...more zombie figures. There are 28283748638 companies making zombies.

Try filling a part of the market that doesn't have models next time.

Yeah, and they're all pretty bad.

GWs are big and cartoony
Mantic's are ok, but repetitious, and half zombies (half out of the ground, only the legs w spine) are a cop out...
WGFs are poorly sculpted
Who is the fourth?

I'm patiently waiting for a company to do decent plastic zombies with lots of options (heads, torsos, legs, male and female). When that happens, I'll finally get that zombie horde I've been wanting (not to mention use them for WHFB).

Mantic and GW ones are primarily for fantasy, so imo they dont exactly count. Assuming thats what you meant. And yea as said before WGF zombies are on of their worst sets. There isnt a really good straight out of the box zombie set for modern

To my knowledge these are the 4 available zombie sets at the moment, (not including mono pose plastics from boardgames.)

GW, Fantasy.
Mantic, Fantasy.
Wargames factory, Modern.
Studio Miniatures, WW2.

Notice how only one of these kits actually contain MODERN zombies, and quite frankly the Wargames Factory zombies are awful models that are lacking detail.

Personally i prefer my modern zombies to actually look like they're from our era, not wearing loincloths or looking like they were infected at a WW2 reenactment.

I'm sure you can sculpt on some neckties if that's all they're missing. Ripped clothing all looks pretty much alike at that scale.

There's always someone out there who will argue that "crowdfunding shouldn't be used for this, that or the other thing" based on their own biases and feeling of "This sort of thing should be done the way I think it should be done". That's the beauty of the free market and indeed, crowdfunding. We're each free to spend/pledge our money wherever we like. It's also not a zero-sum game. I'm spending on both Mantic and Sedition Wars this month, but I've never Kickstarted anything in my life before (motorcycles notwithstanding), and I have no personal interest in spending my money on "off the wall" ideas.

As for these zombies, their previous work is actually quite nice looking. Of course, I have a ton of GW zombies, Target/Warzone zombies, Mantic Zombies... and probably a few others' as well so I don't exactly need any more. I might go in for the $30 box. I might also look into their Nazi Zombies set as well...

They have their 3-ups of the first 8 heads on the indiegogo site under updates. Very nice. I'm definitely in and hoping they can do some females and kids to go along with it.

Exactly!

The beauty of 'crowd-funding' is that if the idea does NOT have merit, or is NOT presented well, or does NOT offer value, etc. etc. etc. then it will NOT succeed!

Heads look good, though currently where I am I cant post them, silly computer

Though one thing I think would be nice is that some of the bald heads should have separate hats. That would really add to the customibility. Like hardhats, baseball caps, etc. Even a resin/metal conversion set would be neat

A perfect example, actually. Great quality product, but negligible value over RRP for investing your hard earned cash and dubious ability to deliver on time.

That's a good thing. It gives people some breathing room. If you look at the "right now" timeframe, we have Mantic, Sedition Wars and Avatars of War all ending within about 10 days of one another. It also removes a lot of the pressure that campaigns like AoW has - where it seems that Felix thought he'd make $55k in a month (Min $20k) and is now under a lot of pressure to even get the $20k.

I just pledged for a set. It looks pretty solid to me, and their previous zombie work has been excellent. Rather than scrounge here and there, this should set me up for Ambush Z very nicely!
