Hello everyone,

Would like to get some feedback on this guy. I am trying different options for my Raven Guard army and this is the first. I am think of maybe trying more of a grey/black armor instead. This also gave me a chance to test out my highlighting which has improved but still need to work at it.

Good mate, nice and clean, maybe highlight the red a bit, but no trouble if you don't. I agree with @Wickedcarrot, that base is beautiful, gives the model sooooo much more detail.

Very well done. I give mad props to anyone who can highlight black that well, in my mind its one of the harder things to pull off.

Whoa thanks for the nice comments guys Yeah I definitely need to highlight the red as soon as it was pointed out I saw it. I am leaning towards this theme. It only took about an hour and a half for the marine and base. Really all the time is spent highlighting and everything else is easy. Thanks again for the nice comments. I was worried it would look too plain any thoughts on that?

You could add a flash of color on the chest. Or squad markings (i.e. squad numbers or symbols) on the shoulders or knees could add a little variety to certain models.

The only problem I see is the inevitable boredom of painting this multiple times. I think everything about the model looks very good, but do you really want to paint such a bland army? I hate to suggest something as over-done as colored shoulder pads or knee pads...maybe the half-and-half color scheme would be fun and fairly simple.

I totally agree with you on that. I am thinking of adding a lot more color. I like how this guy turned out technique wise but he is a bit boring for me.

Love the model I think with a little more color and variation of models I think it would look great.

Rocking base. I love it.

highlighting looks good to me....at least from the photo. The character looks good, but an entire army painted in such a muted way could be boring to paint and dull on the table top. I think adding a little more white or red to the character would really help the overall look. Maybe try out a white kneepad....
