Also known as 'liquid talent' this devious and sly little wash appeared in every tutorial I read when first introduced to the 40k painting world a year ago. For better or worce Devlan Mud has gone and Agrax Earthshade has stepped in to fill its squishy boots.

So this is a post to post your own little tributes to Devlan Mud by bobbing up a model that just wouldn't have had the same pizazz without that wash. To kick things off here's my AOBR dreadnought which was the first 40k vehicle I painted nearly a year ago and is made all the more special by a healthy coat of Devlan Mud.

Don't forget to post yours and lets send Devlan out with a bang!

h.

This guy was painted in just basic block colours and detailed with a good old generous serving of Devlan Mud!

I stocked up on Devlan when I heard the first rumours of the new paint range, it's a staple in creating rusted metal affects for my terrain, and I'm now down to my last dribble- the new Agthrax Earthshade just doesn't quite make the grade!

I constantly bought my FLGS out of Devlan Mud. I have an unhealthy obsession with it!

Lol. Funny thread idea. An Ork playing buddy of mine swears by Devlan Mud and got me using it. I does have a unique odor. I find that I rather like it, as well as the smell of the GW plastic glues. I think I need to start using that stuff in a better ventilated room per the warning labels!

How are the results with Agrax Earthshade? I've been wondering what the new equivalent wash was (I'm too lazy to look up the chart) and if was as good.

My Space Marines http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/456110.page (shameless plug) are basically Catachan green with two heavy coats of Devlan Miracle over the top. I cried when i saw the 'colour matches' GW had provided for the new range....

I have 2 landraiders a drop pod and a rhino and 4 squads still to paint and 3 pots of Devlan left.

Im screwed.

Most people I see replacing their Devlan Mud tend to opt for Army Painter Strongtone Ink, they also have Darktone Ink as a Badab Black analogue.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

I used up my last pot of Devlan Mud on this model. It wouldn't have quite the same stench without it.

I prime my miniatures white and then first thing I do is wash them with devlan mud. I am going to miss this little pot of... mud. I think I have 3 pots left which should allow me to finish my army. But with playing Vampire Counts, my Skeletons are primed white, washed with the mud, and highlighted and are done. So quick and easy. I will miss it.

army painter strongtone is literally devlan mud - it comes from the same suppliers that used to provide devlan mud from what I've been told.
