Subject: Some notes on CSM in 6th edition

Just taking some notes on how the new rules interact with my army:
Winged DP:
12" movement, 2D6 rerollable charge distance
Ignores dangerous terrain tests due to Move Through Cover
Free I10 attack on the charge thanks to Hammer of Wrath
Enemy must pass LD check or strike at I1 thanks to Fear
Plague Marines:
Defensive Grenades give stealth against units firing up to 8" away, no enemy bonus to charging unless the unit is already in combat
Cannot go to ground
No longer take No Retreat wounds
Can now move and fire rapid fire weapons once at 24"
Instant death is now worded: "If a model suffers an unsaved Wound from an Attack that has a Strength value of double its Toughness (after modifiers), it is reduced to 0 Wounds and removed as a casualty."
Plague Marines no longer suffer instant death on S8???
Always get Feel No Pain unless they suffer Instant Death
Obliterators:
No longer need to roll 2D6 to move
Can assault after firing weapons
Cannot run or sweeping advance
Rhinos:
Daemonic Possession would ignore any pen result of 1 through 3

I dont have the new rulebook, so I'm not 100%, but dont winged daemon princes get vector strike? And you have to get 6s to hit them with shooting, as they're flying? I thought this was true, but you didnt list it

Someone mentioned this...
Lash lists now can "snipe"...
Just Lash the model you don't like ( PF, Heavy Weapon, Painboy/Apothecary) to be the closet model to your shooting unit, and voila, no more baddies...

Yes, the vector strike and smash things are true. Apparently you can toggle modes between behaving as jump infantry or flying around. Since my Nurgle princes generally skip shooting, I didn't really pay much attention to it. However, it could be useful for like a turn one movement..

I am excited about the Demons Allies rules.
Epididimus coupled with plague marines gives 3+ feel no pain. Use of chaos icons to guide deep striking Demons to their target seems pretty amazing. I put my soul grinder here....
There seems to be a lot of good things coming our way. New Codex especially. Cultists. I am excited.
edit. The new rules concerning Instant Death with respect to plague marines are amazing. Basically the only thing that will effect the FNP will be str 10.

Having played 5th edition allied games with my Nurgle CSM force and a friend's Nurgle Daemons with Epidemius, the combo is very broken and will make your opponents quite upset.
If you get 20 kills with Nurgle units, Plague Marines have 3+ FNP, 2+ poisoned melee attacks and armor ignoring melee and ranged attacks. It breaks the game. AP2 flamer? AP2 bolter? I hope it is FAQed to only apply to Daemons.

How are you thinking of delivering berzerkers with the changes to Rhinos?
Pretty much the only thing I've got is to flat out and hope it blows up. WS 5 is nice, but losing I5 on the charge is making my MoK CSM the heavy hitters instead of the berzerkers because they can pack bolters and plasma at range if they get stranded.

I thought that as well, so I double checked the chaos marine codex, Icons only work for terminator armor, oblitirators, and lesser demons. If I remember correctly, there is no entry for lesser demons in the demon codex, so the icons will not work.
Though you can by the landing pad terrain, drop it near the center, and never scatter off of that, and you can drop there and get a cover save from the walls.

FAQs are out. Not much on the effect of alliances.
Winged Daemon Princes are not Flying MCs. Lame.
Kharn the Betrayer now hits at Ini1. He's packing a weaker chainfist, for all effects.
Abaddon's sword is AP3. Run away from termis with him.
No Skyfire on anything.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.
In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos. |

Can you legally take special characters as allies?

The CSM/CD alliance was not hurt at all by the FAQ though. Fateweaver can swoop around providing his badass bubble (which even allows you to reroll vehicle cover saves ) to the entire CSM army.
The Tallyman thing is also gonna be pretty raw...
The new modified toughness rule combined with feel no pain makes it better than ever imo, only strength 10 will deny to a plague marine (tally still makes the feel no pain go to a ridic 3+). No idea where this misconception came from. You absolutely can take them.

Not sure. But even if you can't having Chaos Daemons as the main army with just pure Plague Marines Allies would probably fill a similar role.

That's an interesting information. Is there some other piece of wargear in the 40k universe that can do the same?

Living metal for necrons and that grey knight blessing do something similar, although I believe they have to pass a roll for theirs to work.

Bravo, that's probably the best response I have heard on here so far. Allied Daemons using a Nurgle Daemon Prince on top of all the nurgle crap that we throw at them. Nurgle Havocs with all MLs come to mind. 4 blast templates will rack up a few kills, especially on Ork boys or Nid swarms. Then you get Frag missiles wounding on twos, which would take really that many kills. The Nurgle DP sadly won't benefit from the tally much, with no FnP, AP 2 to start with and wounding most stuff on a 2 anyways. Would be great on other MC's though.
