Sorry, no pictures or video. Will cut to the chase with little to no fluff and what highlight what rules we sucked at.

Setup: Vanguard Strike, Crusade with 4 objectives, none played as mysterious (we forgot)

Orks List:

Warboss (pk,squig) with 8 Nobz (Cybork, 4 normal nobs, 3 pks, 1 bp, 1 waagh banner, painboy) in a Wagon (rolla, rpj, big shoota)
Big mek (kff, burna)

20 shoota boyz w/ nob (pk, pole) x2

6 lootas x2

dakkajet (extra shoota, fighta ace)
3 deffkoptas (rokkits)

Taulllies!
Commander- Helios, 2 shield drones
Crisis suit- Helios, 2 shield drones
12 fire warriors

Space Marines List:

Jump Librarian (Epistolary, Machine Curse and generates Hallucinate YIKES!)
Terminator Chaplain

10 tacticals in a Rhino (MM and meltagun) x2

5 assault terminators (3 lc, 2 th/ss) in a Land Raider w/ MM

10 assault marines w/ melta bombs x2

Ironclad (flamers x2) in a drop pod

Deployment:

Table was set up by alternating terrain via codex using terrain density limitations. My orks got first turn.

Space Marines deployed both Rhinos at both objectives on their side. 1 group of assault marines deployed behind a building.
Land Raider w/ Chaplain was held in deep strike reserve, as was the other assault group with the librarian.

I deployed in Kan Wall formation in the center of the table, with wagon in range of kff as well. I had the fire warriors holding the rear objective and a group of boyz in the forest holding the other objective. Koptas were deployed up north and lootas near my short table edge.
Both suits were held in deep strike reserve, and of course, so was my flyer.

Purple= objectives Blue=marines Red=orks Orange=tau

Ork Turn 1: Slogged forward the group and wagon, keeping all in kff range. Shot a couple assault marines dead with kopta rokkits. Very uneventful!

Marines Turn 1: Camped Rhinos and assault marines. Drop pod lands in front of lootas and the dreadnought burns 1 group dead! FIRST BLOOD

Ork Turn 2: All reserves arrive. Deep struck both suits in, 1 at each Rhino. Dakkajet comes in at the right vector to get rear armor shots on the ironclad and wrecks it (scored 2 pens and 4 glances! YIKES!) Both suits drop heat on the Rhino and explodes them both! Marines in first Rhino take 4 casualties from the blast, and the other group takes 3 casualties (very poor armor save rolls)! Lootas fail to shoot the drop pod for any effect. Whole foot slog wall moves up into middle-table forest, roll on mysterious forest table: pleasant forest! Nobs bail out and move toward assault marine blob.

Marines Turn 2: Land Raider arrives, mishaps and I get to place it. I put it in the north-east corner of the table, well away from everything, facing off into the distance. Assault group does not arrive. Tacticals all aim at the closest suit and blow it up. Assault Marines charge the Wagon and blow it up. Drop pod kills a loota.

Ork Turn 3: Dakkajet turns 90 degrees and comes screaming at a group of tacticals to kill 2 of them. Kans blow away a couple marines, and so do the koptas. Lootas do nothing to the pod again! Nobz charge the assault marines and wipe them out with minimal effort (lost 1 nob)! Almost all sloggers are across the table now.

Marines Turn 3: Big nasty assault team arrives near lower objective orks and shoots a couple. Pod kills another loota and they all run away (useless gits!). MM on Land Raider pops a kopta, AC kills a couple boyz. Tacticals shoot some wounds onto the nobz.

Ork Turn 4: WAAAAAGH! Dakkajet's 18 shots kills 5 tacticals, koptas kill 1, kans kill 2, crisis commander kills 3 and wipes 1 squad! Fire warriors bunker up against the drop pod. Nobs guard their shiny new objective. All that is left for marines is the big assault group, the termies in the raider and a drop pod. :(

Marines Turn 4: Raider kills a few boyz, termies disembark, but still out of assault range. Librarian's Hallucinate cast on objective boys causes them to Erm? Marines shoot and kill 2, and charge the boyz. They are not allowed to shoot, and since overwatch is a normal shooting attack, I don't get my 45 snap shots! Marines kill 8 orks, orks are not allowed to attack back due to Erm?

Ork Turn 5: Dakkajet zooms off the table edge, laughing maniacally as he does. Everyone turns to face the Land Raider coming in from behind. Objective orks are wiped out (my Nob challenged the librarian and got absolutely rocked), and assault marines consolidate toward warboss.

Marines Turn 5: Assault marines charge the nobz. 2 nobz are killed (all of the wounds on the warboss we spread out over unallocated nobz), but the deadly rain of power klaws wipe the assault marines.

Game ends. 2 objectives held by orks and tau, none by marines. First blood goes to marines. Orks get linebreaker bonus.

Orks win 7-1!

Thoughts:

Marines did not have the dice gods on their side!

I was concerned nobz would lose a TON of durability, but they are only slightly less brutal. Still worth it!

First game ever that my lootas sucked that hard, but oh my god, did my dakkajet ever go to town on everything!

Taullies are BS. The suits caused so much havoc on MEQ and fire warriors are very worthy objective holders in the back field.

Marines made several huge mistakes IMO:

1. Ironclad should have dropped on the slogging group and flamed them to death, not the lootas.

2. Mishap on the land raider effectively took it out of the game. Should have started on table.

3. Played sheepishly with the Rhinos with a melta loadout. Should have taken a lascannon if they're going to sit that far back!

Just a note - in wound allocation for cc as well as shooting the closest model takes wounds until he is dead or the wound pool is empty. No spreading out failed saves in cc for your nobs.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

The only spread was due to Look Out Sir! in CC.

We also totally forgot about the new night fight rules and didn't even roll for it.

Allies also dont score I believe.
Shame the marines didnt really get going, but the game wasnt a total blowout. When the vee's died, was it to hull points or the damage table?

Also, you say the MM popped the deff copta, but it has 2 wounds and t5... did something else shoot it?

Allies of convenience and battle brothers can score. Desperate allies cannot.

Thank you for the great battle report!

Even without pictures it was extremely clear and easy to follow the action!

One Question, what is a Helios suit?

- 4000
- 1500 6th ed codex: 2 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws

DOH! I forgot about the deffkopta T5 sitcking! That melta should have only tickled my kopta!

Helios suits were configured as Plasma Rifle, Fusion Blaster and Multi-Tracker. I also spent the points to give them 2 shield drones and will play with the idea of marker drones now with the recent buffs.

Thankfully, convenient allies do score, so fire warriors are way better than grots at sitting around on a back objective.

Hull points didn't matter too much. The melta shots on the Rhinos took them out pretty much instantly. My wagon died to 1 roll of a melta bomb. The ironclad is the only vehicle that died to hull points (2 pens with poor rolls and 4 glances from my dakkajet).

AP1 is BRUTAL now and I'm not going to lie, even AP2 is scary. I am very strongly considering bolstering my taullies with a broadside or 2 because of it.

The Tau really close the glaring anti-tank hole that orks have in a big way.

Probably going to swap out my normal boss for a ghazkull for a number of reasons: no instant-death makes him one of the best challengers in CC, double waaagh for my dakkajet, and fearless to keep dem sissy loota gits on the table.

Nice to see all the CC action. What are your thoughts on orks getting into assault?

I don't feel like this was a good game for assault judgment, but I will say that shooting is more important than ever.

My nobz did fine with their battlewagon delivery system and flat tore it up in combat, especially with the warboss. Nobz are still really stinkin' good, especially with LOS.

You will probably see a LOT of battlewagon lists. I'm feeling that trukk lists will take a significant hit for a number of reasons: fearless dies with a couple deaths, challenged nobz will get killed, open-top low-armor = boom headshot.

Shoota boyz are the way to go. Do you charge them and get a bucket of dice dumped on your head or do you let them get stronger on their charge? That's a lose/lose if I ever saw one.
