OK, so here is my question... while I searched 4 pages back, I didnt find this exact issue.

IG valks/vendettas can use grav chut insertion if they flat out moved. I see no restriction on flat out for disembarking, other than that you only disembark in the movement phase normally... obviously grav chuts are not normal. Thus, all Grav chuts seem to give is the ability to disembark from the shooting phase on a flat out.

Enter zoom mode. Zooming flyers specifically disallow disembarking period. It seems they dont seem to care how you disembark, you just cant do it. You also DO NOT disembark when your flyer crashes it seems... instead you are simply placed within 3 inches of the wreck.

So, do grav chuts NOT allow a valk/vendetta to disembark during a flat out from a flyer? Or is grav chut specific enough to allow a disembark from a zooming flyer despite zooming saying you can not disembark? Seems it cant be used from a zooming flyer but I want to check with the group first, see if I missed something.

Check the Imperial Guard FAQ. There is some errata and amendments on Grav Chute Insertion. Whether it answers your question, I'm not sure. I'm still a bit shaky on how Flyers work.

A new day, a new time zone.

Specific overrides general. The general rule is that passengers cannot disembark from zooming transports. The specific rule for 'grav chute insertion' allows disembarkation by the unit after the valkyrie/vendetta moved flat out. The timing is different now, as they're deploying by deep strike in the shooting phase instead of the movement.

Are you allowed to disembark on shooting phase?

I am actually expecting the valkyrie and stormraven's to be faq 'ed again to include zooming moves.

The GA stormraven was faq'ed for units to disembark as they were intended, allowed out over 6" but delpoys via special rule. The GK stormraven and the valkkyrie/vendetta was not. There are still many inconsistencies in the first batch of Faq's, if you show/explain the problem with your opponent you could most likely get it OK'ed as a RAI.

The BA Faq says "if it moves more than 6 inches " , so i wonder if that disembark movement can be done when you zoom. (I know it counts as more than 6" but zoom rules specifically tells you that you can't disembark )

You should double check that... I don't think the flyer rules say anything about disembarkation. The only restriction as far as I can tell is the moving more than 6" restriction in the transport rules.

I checked it before i posted...

Last sentence of the "Zoom" rule says it explicitly.

Ha ha, so how can anything ever disembark from a night scythe since it can't hover?

It has a special rule called Invasion Beams, provided to us via the new errata. It allows the troops to disembark even if the Scythe moves 36".

The specific rule for 'grav chute insertion' allows disembarkation by the unit after the valkyrie/vendetta moved flat out.

This is really unfortunate. They can then only disembark with the grav chutes if the Vendetta opts to not shoot and instead moves flat out.
