Available tomorrow looks like---I don't see a pricing point anywhere but suspect I'll flinch when I see the Cron price.

I'll be interested to see if GW updates the codexes to reflect changes in editions and FAQs.

I'm not advocating piracy, but when you only release stuff like this for a platform I don't own, I'm VERY interested in being able to bring it over to a platform I do own.

I pay for all my content; let me use it where I want.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Hmm, tactics articles on sale via PDF? Interesting move. I'm somewhat interested to see the quality of those articles-- Games Workshop tactics pieces tend to be very inconsistent in terms of quality-- but I doubt I'll be interested enough to actually pick this up, especially since I don't have an iPad. Could be a nice technique, though, and I suppose this rapid expansion of their digital line indicates that the initial Codex: Space Marines digital release was successful for Games Workshop.

I really wish they'd done a minicodex for all the existing armies when they came out with 6th edition. A quick "get you by" to do stuff like drop the price on FCW and make Hive Guard "Elite or HS"

I have been waiting for something like this for a while now. Something in electronic format, that would possibly be updated when erratas / FAQ's are released. But I am kinda annoyed with the fact that GW put this in a format that requires a certain brand and version of a rather expensive electronic device.

I love ya GW, but why do you have to make things so damned difficult for us?

The Ork bomber rules are going up as part of their digital copies? Like. Not only do I need the pay for the rules, but I also need a Ipad to even view the damn thing? That's fething stupid..... Why couldn't they put them up as a free PDF like they did for that one eldar tank....

Again.

It's NOT A PDF!

It's a different format that can't yet be converted to others OS.

It'll be interesting to see if anyone goes through the process of translating the iBook to an ePub and then localizing it for every android format. No wait, it'll be a miracle. You might be waiting a while.

Not really. The app that it is designed in has no equivalent on the other platforms.

And yet you can convert iBooks to Epub books with only a week or two of work depending on the features used. The process of localization is much more time consuming. The "App it is designed in" is a windows or mac operating system.

Look fellers, they are going to release their digital books in the apple format and look at others In the future, we all know this for their release statements.

Must when have the same complaints every month inspite of knowing the above? It's not that I disagree but it does begin to grate after a while (one month as it turns out!).

The pricing is an interesting point though. I wouldn't have imagines GW going quite so in depth as to do individual painting guides for each Ork tribe.

I agree that it is stupid that there is no legal way anymore to get Storm Talon rules, WD being out of print. Offering Ork Bomma rules for a few rich people owning an ipad ("Starting at 499 $") is not the solution.

Codex crons in digital and 6th ed compliant.
So we either buy an i-book and the codex again or were stuck with an codex/Faq/BYB combo?

I agree there shouldn't be any rules as digital content only.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the digital codex is updated for 6th ed. I suspect that it will not be.

The necron one seems to be. Per GW:

Codex: Necrons
Codex: Necrons is your guide to the armies of the Necrons. This volume details the terrible history and advanced wargear of the Necrons, and provides full rules for fielding an army of these deathless robotic warriors in games of Warhammer 40,000. This expanded Codex includes interactive miniatures galleries, lavish colour artwork, and updated rules to match the latest edition of Warhammer 40,000.

So the pricing matches the physical versions.

I want digital copies and yes, I did buy the marine one and id love to have all of them on my iPad.

However I'm not buying another one unless the marine book gets updated. Receiving no response from gw from my email queries isn't encouraging.

GW! what a way to rub salt in the wounds! They want us to pay twice now for each codex.
For shame! we pay for the paperback codex when the new range launches, then again a few months later for a new upto date codex with extras...

We should only have to pay once and get both.

I made my point on the games workshop facebook page, quite a few others are making noise too, we can only hope once enough people complain that they listen.
I let them know that I won't buy at this price, especially having already bought the book once already!

Panic...

Has GW ever send you a new printed codex anytime there was a FAQ? Nothing has changed there.

Nobody is asking anybody to buy two books. The eCodex is only another option, the paper Codex is just as valid as it has ever been, and it will be updated the same way as is always has. Nothing is changing, there is no grand conspiracy, you can still go to the GW website right now and get your free FAQs to download and use with your already paid for Codex. Nobody is asking you to pay twice, so that is a stupid argument.

Why do you have to buy the eCodex? Because you want it, not because GW is forcing you to.
