So, pretty much the same army I ran in 5th, except that now, without tweaking, it got better! Thoughts?

The only thing I would try to tweak is finding points to add fury to the heralds. This is just to keep them from getting bogged down with walkers. However, there is not a lot of place to strip points, short of stripping down on of your DPs.

Perhaps you ditch one squad of horrors, add fury to the Heralds, add fury to the Bloodcrushers. Any remaining points beef up your horror squads?

I like it! I'd consider Skulltaker on Juggernaut to replace one of the Heralds though. Decapitation is neat trick, plus his rending on a 4+ is now very useful with Bloodcrushers otherwise limited to AP3.

While I like Skulltaker, he's rather pricey and I simply don't have room for him in this list. While his AP2 is nice, it doesn't really do a whole lot considering I won't throw my Bloodcrushers against a 2+ save unit: most of them can't hurt it! I'll use the Bloodcrushers for MEQ killing and let the Daemon Princes do the 2+ save stuff.

As it stands right now, there is debate on whether the mark on the CSM works for daemons. Hopefully, the pending chaos codex addresses this.

And, if all you're looking for is a beacon to guide your daemons in, take a skyshield landing pad. Convert it to some sort of daemonic altar and land on that. Points wise, it is cheaper than the marines you're fielding.

There is no debate on the icon, the CSM icons only allow for Oblits, Greater/Lesser Daemons and Terminators to deep strike off them.

I would get Lash myself over the dual Tzeetch powers.

The only thing in CSM that the daemons need are las cannons. That's it. They need something with 48" range. So take some obliterates and drop them on a lading pad (which ALL DAEMON PLAYS MUST HAVE)

The landing pad is the single most broken thing ever. You can literally take 40 plagues and put them on the platform and raise the shields. INSTAN PIT OF ZOMBIES.

I would be more inclined to drop 20-40 Horrors on the pad myself with 4 attached Tzeetch Heralds. Talk about throwing out the pain - heralds Bolt/Gaze a target of their choice, then 60 Warpfire shots come hurtling in.

Heyas just adding my two cents. I've played 4 games with new rules and daemons, i can say that most players will shoot the bejesus out of kairos so dont plan on him surviving past turn 3. What i've taken to using is bloodthirster 1 daemon prince (in higher points) and a Soulgrinder. Kairos envitably dies but then the bloodthirster and grinder, and other elites (fiends/crushers) will mop up. If your opponent lacks the dakka to kill kairos its pretty much overs. I think DP will benefit from breath of chaos as the glancing of tanks is actually not a bad way of killing them sometimes you can hit multple tanks and with 3 DP's doing it thats gonna knock alotta hps off.

And ye used the temple of skulls from fantasy as my landing pad, worked wonders especially after everything had landed i gave the soulgrinder a 4++ definatly worth a think.

For those enemies who willingly move against the Supreme judgement, of the Divine Emperor of man kind, Eternal death shall be granted. Amen

I bad the range on all those weapons suck. I planned to do the same with my blobs of horrors but 18" warp fire isnt that long of a range

I mostly play in NOVA style tournaments - which means no Skyshield I was mainly taking the marines for the psyker, but I think there's a cheaper route for that in the Guard...

Ah, just read the last few sentences there. Darn.
The tzeentch powers aren't being kept, they're being switched out for Telepathy powers. By being Tzeentch I can take Mastery Level 2 powers like Invisibility and Hallucination.

The problem is, by the time you buy the HQ and Troop, that's a lot of points for a few lascannons.

I've been running Kairos for about a year and a half now (so way more than 4 games ) and about half the time he dies around turn 3, other half he lives the whole game. Depends on the type of army you're facing and what kind of tactics you use.

The problem with Breath of Chaos is that it's 30 points, and then it's only a glance on a 4+. I'd rather take another unit of horrors then 3x Breath of Chaos.

I would drop the Bolts off the Princes and replace them with Breaths. Taking both is too expensive, but I think that Breath will give you more utility here. Since you will want your flying units to be swooping as much as possible, you will have a serious lack of AP2 (since Vector Strikes are counted as AP3). Pretty much nothing in your list could take down a large unit with a 2+ save or a set of 5 Hammernators except for engaging with multiple princes in CC.

Anti-tank probably isn't too big of a problem since 4 Vector Strikes is 9 Strength 6 hits and 3 Strength 5 hits on average against side armor, which is usually AV11 or below. Against AV11 you are looking at least 3 hull points stripped and it is even better against AV10. With 4 breaths, you can nuke the squad that was being transported in one turn. The bloodcrusher unit can also take out pretty much every vehicle in the game in a pinch since they will be striking against AV10 against 90% of vehicles. AV1 just doesn't seem as critical when you can glance tanks to death pretty well.

The good news is, you can swap out Bolt for Breath without having to remodel your units so you can try it out.

I'm taking this list to a tournament tomorrow, it's not optimal but I don't have the models to make it optimal. Here's what I'm running, I'll let you guys know how it does. I'll be playing for a spot in the NOVA Invitational, so wish me luck

why wouldnt a tourne allow the pad?

In 2k i wouldnt field the 3 princes I would go for 1 and get two soulgrinders, and a landing pad, and some flamers, and some screamers (theirs quite a points difference i think that might work, no need for crusher icons anyway). Land everything in the pad kairos help survive intial retaliation from enemy, then shields up, and two grinders sit in the pad like bosses, while the big wing flies off to do mayhem. Crushers are still alright just gotta know where to use em.
