I am wanting to believe that Mech Eldar still have a place in 6th edition. I have been playing my Orks for the first few games, but am getting pretty eager to play my mech eldar. Let me know what you guys think of this list as a whole and if anyone has any experience in 6th with Mechdar... please share.

The Idea was to have the War Walkers reserve while everything else pushes. The other option would be to take out the Walkers and put in a third Prism and maybe field another Farseer if points allowed. Question, can Dire Avengers blade storm on the over watch? Seems super unrealistic, but I was hoping =) Thanks for your time guys.

I was building a mechdar army before 6th dropped and I'm very interested (I don't get to play much, so I have to learn vicariously for a while) in how people are adapting. Anyway, what about bikes? I keep hearing that they are really good now and that vehicles are much less. I'm probably just going to run my 'normal' (since I've played all of 5 or 6 games) list. Bad_Sheep37 wrote:The other option would be to take out the Walkers and put in a third Prism and maybe field another Farseer if points allowed.
The boards seem to be favoring more Walkers, rather than less, as they have a better chance vs. flyers and just generally can glance armor to death. Bad_Sheep37 wrote:Question, can Dire Avengers blade storm on the over watch? Seems super unrealistic, but I was hoping =) Thanks for your time guys.
Some on the boards suggest that they can - you can bladestorm during your shooting phase, and then ~again~ during ovewatch (because it is not 'your next shooting phase'). But others may know more about how that conversation's gone. Anyway, thanks for posting this. I was getting the feeling that all the Eldar were going to sit on their Craftworlds until their new codex came out.

Hey Mars thanks for the reply. I didn't change my 5th edition list to much from this list.
My whole thing with the Walkers vs the prisms is the concern with anti horde as well as blasts now hit vehicles much easier. I don't know if I would want to go for an all walker type list.
That would be amazing if Blade Storm did actually work during over watch... that makes Dire Avengers super awesome. Also, I think people will be playing their eldar a lot more now.. they seem to have gotten a buff with the edition.

Looks pretty standard.
I would keep the walkers for sure as they are amazing(they were in 5th, still good now)
Make sure your exarches have dual catapults(you may have them, but add them if you don't)

I think vypers would be good to test out in a mech list to. They can move 12, fire two weapons, and get jink saves. Might be worth a look.

Dire Avengers can bladestorm during Overwatch as there's nothing to prevent them from doing so. But I'd avoid bladestorming in your shooting phase and then -again- in Overwatch, as that is completely against the nature of the ability.
Just shoot normally in your turn and watch that Ork mob avoid you like a plague because they're afraid of 32 shots in THEIR assault phase

Yeah, let us know how it works in the 6th ed. You have already made some changes when compared with mech Eldar played in the 5th - no more small DA units able to score inside a transport. Now they have to go out and hold an objective. On the other hand, Serpents can no longer contest which is bad news. Nevertheless, Serpents got a boost which can now move 12'' and shoot two heavy weapons, my favorite combo is tl scatterlaser and underslung shuricannon. Fire Prisms also got a boost since the small template is now better vs. vehicles. Warwalkers got a boost due to the new squadron rules but also got a hit since outflanking does not allow a charge in the same turn.
What the army is lacking is a cc oriented unit that can deal with big nasties.
Have you thought about including some DE units? An option would be a Haemi and some Warriors or Wyches.

You should swap the enlarge on the wave serpents for shuriken cannons . 6 twinlinked shots basically turns them into two guided warwalkers that can move 12". It's so much better it should be a no-brainer in every list with wave serpents.
Other than that the list looks good.
As for bladestorm it does carry over into overwatch. Since the negative effect starts in your next shooting phase.

Its a shame that serpents cant contest.. That is a HUGE hit to mech eldar.
Being able to bladestorm on over watch is simply amazing.. I think DA will be pretty scary because of it.
I was thinking about getting some Dark Eldar allies. I'm not 100% sold on the allies... Just seems odd, but I'm willing to give it a go. I was looking into getting some Void Raven Bombers to give me the needed air support.. Also some Wytches might not be a bad idea. I'll have to give it some more though.
Thanks a ton for the replies and I'm really excited to report back to you guys and let you know how it did.

So I played a 2500 Points game tonight against Grey Knights. We are both still figuring out rules and such, but the game was awesome. I ran everything in my above list with the addition of another Farseer, giving both Guide, Fortune, Doom, SS, and both runes. Another Fire Dragon Squad, and adding a couple upgrades like star engines to the fire dragons.
The Eldar did so well I couldnt have asked for a better game. Dire Avengers are really strong with the blade storm and then Over watching the assault. I ran the Dire Avengers close together so whatever came close they could easily take down.
The Fire Dragons made it to where they needed to be with the help of Fortune and Star Engines.
The War Walkers were pretty awesome. Now being able to glance vehicles down pretty easy, makes these guys a nice choice for your heavies. Also, because of their volume, you can take fliers down if you guide them.
The Fire Prisms are still Meh. Even with the blast perk that we got, their still either awesome, or really gakky. I have never found Prisms to be consistent... I may be taking 2 of these out and tossing in another squad of War Walkers... more testing is needed.
So overall guys, I was super impressed with what Eldar laid down. If your smart, you can get a decent amount of mileage out of the Serpents before they get popped.
Oh and in case you were wondering.. I did win the game =) Sorry Shawn... had to toss that in there.

I feel like any eldar list should take advantage of pathfinders since they got buffed the most of any unit.

Pathfinders didnt see much of any buff in the current edition. You can pick targets on 6, but a squad of 5 is really only doing a single wound. Snipers are still not effective sources of damage.
The problem with mech eldar is that you cant outshoot a shooty list. That whole list you have sees two fire dragon squad and fire prisms for AT, and thats it. MLs can hurt tank, but are not very effecticve. Killing AV12 vehicles is something every army builds for. Against guard, mech BA, razor spam, or mech crons you will have problems being able to put out enough damage to kill their heavy hitters.
Bunch of critiques:
-If you are outflanking war walkers, put cannons on them. You dont need the extra range and it drops their cost from 60 per model to 40 for only slightly less damage.
-Farseers MUST be equipped with Singing Spears now, since they retain the S9 vs vehicles instead of S3+2d6 pen.
-Drop one DA wave serpent for 2 groups of 3guardian jetbikes with cannons
-Fortune is the strongest eldar psychic power, you need it. Fortune boosting wave serpents for a 75% chance to ignore all results
-Consider eldrad, since he can throw 3 powers around, is MUCH harder to kill, gets all the special wargear, and is better in melee.
-WS must be equipped with Missiles or double cannons. Scatter lasers are not effective unless in quantity and you need the AT. Fast skimmers can fire 2 weapons now meaning double cannons also have a use.
-Look into IA11 and Warp Hunters. They use the same chassis and can be converted from falcon/prisms very easily and are incredibly cost efficient. Slightly worse in 6th as they can no longer shut down whole parking lots, but they are great AT or anti-terminator units.
.
-2x catapults or diresword on every exarch. catapults are great for ranged damage and diresword makes charging an IC into DA a risky strategy for your opponent. I killed Astorath with one the other day.
