Was thinking about what use power lances have... and came to the conclusion that they would rock on death company, for taking out MEQ specialist units.

A unit of 5 death company in a stormraven isn't bank-breakingly expensive, so you can afford it. 300 points isn't much for what it can do.

Add in 3 power lances to that squad of 5...

You now have 15 str 6 ap3 attacks on the charge, that hit most MEQ units on a 3+, and wound most on a 2+. The squad itself is only 145 points, so you can afford to use it as a suicide squad. It will be able to reach pretty much any enemy target the turn after it arrives on the raven, as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be 25 attacks on the charge? Each model would have 5 attacks (2 base +1 for 2 CCW, +2 for charge/Rage).

1st and 2nd Company - 5000pts
86th Ultramar Regiment - 4000pts
Hive Fleet Kraken - 3000pts

You'd be right if he said all models got lances, but he mentioned only 3 of them.

Interesting none the less.

Problem with the mace is that it is only AP4. MEQ get full saves.

What do the other 2 DC get?

I'd just give them all Lances and got whole hog on it. 25 Str6 AP3 attacks is brutal.

When did power lances become an option on Death Company?

They're power weapons. If you can take a PW, you can take a Power Axe, Power Maul, Power Sword, or a Power Lance. They are all the same option in the army list.

IIRC it says you can choose a power weapon. If so you use whatever stats the weapon is WYSIWYG as. So if he models them as lances, theyre lances.

I thought lances were under a different category, rulebook is at home.

I thought the power weapon WYSIWYG was going to do this, and apparently, it will...

I like this idea. Fits well with Death Company.

They're screwed if they hit something they can't wipe in a single turn, or they get charged, but that's the case with death company anyways, so this really plays to their strengths of an earth-shattering charge.

Sanguinious used a lance too so it actually fits with a bunch of crazy people who think they're their primarch.

The Dark Elf player in me shudders at the weapons of the blessed Executioners of Khaine being called such a barbaric name as "cleavers", they are Draichs.

But yes, they would look very cool and there's the bonus that the blades for those swords come already detached from the main body of the model so no tricky cutting and cleaning up required.
