Subject: Drk_O's Dark Eldar and Buddies: 5th Update 10/8 Everything else update, plus current list :O
"Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet? Are you dead yet?"
I know these photo's are kinda blurry, and I'll take some better ones later. But in the mean time they're a good example of what I've done so far with the rest of the army. (Edit: They're up, just scroll down a little )
I started this blog because I have more than enough time to paint, but usually procrastinate doing something else. And with my schedule opening up a bit more, I'm sure I can get more done. Hopefully this blog will help keep me going.
These Scourge have the most work done thus far (I'd kinda argue that they're done, but I think at least the Ork needs a little more work), I have a few raiders, warriors, wyches, reavers and such all in varying stages of WIP, but I've got about 1500ish assembled at least.
Feel free to provide C&C or ask and questions.

So, apparently my tomorrow is different from what tomorrow actually is..
I've been fairly busy (just saw Ted after college, so I've been out since 8am yesterday (and it's just aftermidnight now, hence yesterday) for a 16 hour day :()
I've been thinking in my spare moments about having a more organised updating schedule, like Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday would be the biggest, Wednesday would be smaller, depending if I had worked on something on Tuesday or Wednesday, and Friday would be fairly light, maybe fluff, or ideas. Essentially theory stuff. Like everything I've done so far in this post
I did have a brain storm earlier for a future armies on parade idea. With GW's current push for entries, I elabourated on an idea I had before for last years comp, that I still haven't started
I do have an idea for a Wyche Cult Arena, with multiple levels (And each level having a different battle, and being clear, so if one battle isn't interesting enough, you could just look to a new one. I'd probably have Lilith on the top on a pile of various different high class warriors from different armies), a live Wyche band (with a screen made from an ipod or something playing actual music and video), and an audience.
I'll sketch or 3D out something to represent my idea somehow later...
Chaos Space Marines of the Not quite what I said I was going to upload, but still an update and obvious WIP for once Legion
Being my next army after Dark Eldar, I figured they should be bright, and probably white. I've only got about 13, but I didn't find most of them for some reason, so these were the only ones I took photos of.
So, I've got a new camera, and I couldn't get to the majority of my Dark Eldar stuff besides my Hellions. Which I've had for a long time and hate immensely, so you'll probably never see them unless something changes my mind about them. Which is possible as I'll probably get more for Wyche bits. But not any time soon
Anyway, these Chaos Space Marines were more of an apology update for almost missing this update (If I'm going to set my own schedule, I may as well stick to it). I'm going to do a proper update for Dark Eldar tomorrow, with everything I've done thus far. My normally scheduled Wednesday upload will have some progress finally (yaaay!)
When I started painting them, I had no idea how I was going to paint the helmets. I can't rememeber how I got the idea to use emoticon faces (except maybe from the amount I use ) but I figure it makes them more chracterful, and personalised. So every one of them is getting some sort of emoticon.
Reaver Jetbike Crazytoungface guy!
Originally, this rider was the one on the clusterbike, but she was the most unique (read has the ponytail of power) so I switched them. They aren't glued down or anything, so it wasn't that hard.
Ghost rider Jetbike!
The handle bar on the right broke off, so I've kept the rider off so he can get his own new bike and I can probably use this one for a champion or something. I have some unbuilt riders and mostly built jetbikes at the moment, so they don't have to wait too long. I'm just deciding how I'm going to equip them first.
Reaving Reaver Jetbikes Squad
They're so blue together
There's more updates coming, so stay tuned
Automatically Appended Next Post: Just about to fix the rest of the photos of EVERYTHING else.
After that progress can finally be made :O
Automatically Appended Next Post: Which Wych is the Wych which is the first Wych which I show?
First, both of the Hekatrix
Random Wyches I thought look cool enough to have their own photos
And the squads
The green Wyches are in the process of being repainted to the same blue scheme as the RJB, because it's much better I think and it makes them more cohesive. Which I felt they needed since they both fly under the banner of the Wych Cult of the Blackstar.

Cool stuff, really good job on the poses for the wyches, they look very dynamic. Are your trying to decide between the purple scheme and the blue scheme? Or is it some kind of mixed paint scheme, purple for the kabalites and blue for the wych cults?
If you're gonna use really dark colors in your scheme, I wouldn't leave so much of your models black, it sort of confuses the eye and obscures some of the models' details. For example, on the warriors, I would recommend painting the handle/butt part of the gun, so it will be easier to tell from across the table where the arm ends and the gun begins. Also don't be afraid to expand the pallet of your paint scheme; like, I would recommend painting the warriors' loin cloths a different color than their armor.
And why the hellion hate? Haha. Is it the models or the rules? I cant stand the heads that come with the hellion kit, so I used the faceplate helmets on all my hellions, and it makes the model look much more badass. But hellions are probably my favorite dark eldar unit, rules-wise. They sort of took a hit in 6th edition but still think they're amazing, it just takes a lot of practice with them to learn how to use them right.
Oh, also, I wouldn't format your posts with all the photos inside of spoilers, so people who look at your plog can just scroll down right away and see all your work, instead of having to click everywhere to uncover it.

It's definitely a mixed scheme. With red being used on HQs and sargeants. Kabalites, scourge, Ravagers are purple. Wyches, Jetbikes, and both fliers are blue. Hellions are yellow, Haemonculae coven units are orange without the red leadership positions.
Something a few people have noted is that the colours are too different, and that is isn't very cohesive. So, I've been thinking of putting red on everything and making leadership units completely red. Effectively giving everyone a promotion
I'm not sure though.
And why the hellion hate?
I could never use them properly, but that was probably because I mostly deep struck with them and shot at things. But even when they didn't, they didn't really do much, so I replaced them with scourge and haven't really looked back.
Also, with the spoilers it was because there's so many pictures that I thought it'd slow things down for some people.
Everything is colour coded mostly to tie it to either my Kabal, Cult, Coven and Hellion Gang (mostly to seperate Hellions from everything else, as I HATE them). My Kabal of Shade's Night (maybe Knight? I've never thought of either specifically nor have I written it down before) is purple. My Cult of the Blackstar is Blue, and there has to be a black star somewhere on each model. Coven models are orange. Hellions (HATE THEM SO MUCH) are yellow. Mandrakes are seperate and I haven't decided yet. At the moment, Dedicated transports are coloured based on what's inside, but that usually changes depending on my list (like my current one below, the warriors don't use theirs) So I'm thinking of basing it on their origins (so, raiders are kabalites and venoms are cultists) It's something to think about.
I've been thinking I should call my Hellion gang "(HATE)", because I hate them (I think I've established that )
Anyway, MORE PICS
I've actually had these photos in the gallery since about the same time as my last update, but I got caught up with something else and forgot about it. But better late than never, right?
In come the Incubi
I'm pretty sure they need to be re-highlighted, I'm not sure though.
An Arch on Archon
I haven't gotten any of the new ones yet, but I kinda prefer these old ones.
Raiding Raiders, for a Raidy day
Razor sharp Razorwing
And some more mostly assembled Warriors and Reavers
There, that's everything so far. Now I can actually progress (I didn't feel like doing anything new until this was properly started up at least because it'd back everything up.)
I've just updated my list too with everything I have in various states of completion. The third squad of wyches are unbuilt though. (spoilered because this is a painting and modelling blog, and I felt like I should)
