The Inquisitor turned the unblinking gaze of his crystalline eyes across the assembled Astartes. Emotions flickered across their souls, pride, suspicion – some of their assembled number were, he knew, thought lost to many – anxiety? He smirked inwardly, his visage as impassive as their adamantium helms. They shall know fear, before our course is run.
When his voice came out, it was smooth, melodic; it belied his scarred form.
“I am Lord Inquisitor Crowl. You will call me sir. You are to serve me, and the Ordo Xenos, as I see fit.” One or two of them twitched, almost imperceptibly. He leant closer.
“Forget your oaths to your brothers. Forget your oaths to your chapters. Your only oath now is to me.” He smiled, fractionally. “To the Deathwatch, and our Emperor’s glory.” He flexed, allowing himself to stretch, his augmentations and arcane technology all to apparent. His voice rang out like a temple bell: “Imperator Rex!”
And the voices of Deathwatch sounded an echo that built to a roar. Perhaps, he mused, we may yet survive this.


Right folks, it's competition time!
Open to all and sundry; the challenge is to produce a Deathwatch Marine, chapter and loadout of your choice.

CRITERIA
Judging will be on painting, modelling, and overall by myself and leadlegion. If you want to do a bit fluff, that won't hurt, either.

I am building up a Deathwatch retinue for Crowl from my existing GMS and if any of you would care to send me your fig that would be amazing.

This won't affect the judging.

The one catch for the contest is your fig should be on a small d-style (rounded lip) base; if you need one, just ask and I'll send you one.

Basing style should be entirely up to you, be it urban or desert, simple or complex. You don't have to use a d-style base, but hey, it's a change.


Picture rules are pretty standard for p&m: you must submit an unpainted or primed pic as well as your final photo. Please make the final image as large as possible and post both in-thread.

Deadline: Midnight gmt 13th Sept (that is 13th>14th).


PRIZES
There will be a couple of prizes for this, and the winner will have the choice. You'll be able to pick from getting a mini custom painted by leadlegion, a Custom Build from me (GK, mentor, weeping angel, assassin, =][= retinue or something completely different!) OR... a Storm Eagle conversion kit (that is, all the resin components to build a SE from an SR). It's the new one FW are sending me, in case you're wondering Hopefully, not too shabby.

Further clarifcations:
Deathwatch are marines from any chapter drafted by the Ordo Xenos to aid Inquisitors with particularly heinous threats. Paint scheme is Blacked out armour with silver left arm. Right shoulder as per chapter of origin. Sometimes, this is reversed so chapter colours with right shoulder as deathwatch (this is non-canon iirc but rather an aesthetic choice by some folk).

Sure, why not, it could be fun. I have been playing around with some marine bits as of late... And I have the round lipped base requested already.

I've tweaked the prize slightly - if you choose a model from me then I'll build something entirely to your own requirements/ taste/ chapter/ race preference - not just a marine, in other words.

Figured that this might be a good opportunity to use my Techmarine, so here is a WiP picture:



Just noticed that there is already a dual plasma-pistol wolf jumping around here, so I might change up the weapons there. I was thinking about forgoing the typical Techmarine tool-back-pack and give him a jump pack. If anybody would be using a Techmarine to jump behind enemy lines to disable some filthy xeno-tech it would be the Deathwatch.

I call him brother O'dion. Following the heavy losses the Silverskulls took at the hands of the necrons O'dion was recalled to his chapter to make use of his talents in infiltration and demolition in the aid of strikes against Necron tomb worlds being taken in retribution for the massive damaged sustained by the chapter at the xenos hands.

Wow, this pick me in the middle of a project involving DW... But there is no way to ship the needed pieces in the right time :(

Anyway, i will be digging this competition for some inspiration ^^

That's what I'm planning. An Emperor's Scythe chaplain... Maybe a jump chappy. I've got all the bits, just need to figure out time. I can't start until the 3rd week of August.

I don't have a fancy DW shoulder pad, just the plastic one from the starter kit. Should make do though.

@ rigeld2: well there's nothing stopping 2 (or more) folk using the same base chapter). Chaplain sounds cool and late August still gives you time.
@d-usa: any =][= pad will do; nothing wrong even with a plain pad with a freehand/penned-on logo is fine!

I'm in, Currently thinking on an Assault Marine though I wont have my bits available till early august (after pay day). Sat on a box of spare bitz but after checking and rechecking it doesnt include any marine torso's or legs :( I do however have some funky weaponry to make it interesting.

Also there is a Black Shield as well ref DW RPG..... And a tone more.
