just reading though the new rule book it says that you have to have 1 HQ and 1 troops choice minimum for a Allied detachment. Does the allied HQ choice count against the parent lists FO for HQ choices (1 min, 2 max)? For example if i take an allied detachment can i still have 2 HQ choices in my parent list? Might be really obvious but i just want to clarify the rules as written.

Yes, you can. The allied detachment is a completely seperate FOC from the primary detachment.
