Do to this taking off, I'm scaling things up

server is DOWN!
Prepping new map for 1.3.1 and getting ready for the new wave!

IN ORDER TO JOIN THE SERVER YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING STEPS
go to http://get.spout.org/
Download the spoutcraft for your operating system and run it (it is just an improved minecraft client, it does not interfere with your minecraft install in any way)
Connect to the server! IP address 72.75.236.16

IP address changes periodically, make sure you check it before you complain you can't connect

YOU CAN PLAY WITHOUT SPOUT, HOWEVER GUNS WILL BE FLINT (SO YOU CANT USE THEM)

Thats it! all mods and resources required are automatically pulled from the server on login!
Bask in the awesomeness that are dynamic shadows, gunz+, and zombies!

NOTICE: this server is still in beta, let me know if I need to adjust spawns, you get stuck, or any other weirdness, come back and enjoy, dont hold it against me it isnt perfect yet


Start guide:

Note: There are LOTS of zombies after you, keep moving (except in day)
-grab your starting gear from the chest in the starting room
-chests spawn loot in them various times throughout the day roughly every 10 minutes if you are not right near the chest (longer if you are)
-crafting table is near spawn in the park, furnaces, breweries, ect. are spread throughout the world, at locations listed at spawn, there are also floating arrows above each place
-you must travel from place to place to kill undead and smelt/craft/ect. your things into weapons and armor
-guns are ingame and currently are very rare drops inside of all chests! (ammo is much more common!)
-DONT LEAVE ANYTHING IN CHESTS once they are reloaded everything in them is replaced with the new loot!

I'm still playing with some mods, but its about 100%, late today or early tomorrow i'll reset the map and finish up the start area and it should be done, besides making different tiers of loot chest (right now all the loot is roughly the same)

If I don't have to install any mods myself, I'll try it.

Been enjoying it alright! Mobs are at the right spawn rate speed

Really buggy. I'l update my texture pack but I really wonder why this server, and ONLY this server, is giving me graphical glitches.

Okay guys, I think we're closing in on an end product
Tomorrow I'm going to be rolling out some loot system changes, (and ive been talking with the guy that made the loot system ive been using to make some other changes)

But the big thing you guys have been waiting for are guns, and they are in the next version

However for guns to work, you guys need to download spoutcraft, thats it, no mods to install, it doesn't interfere with your minecraft install at all, its just a client that supports the API's that I need to put in guns.

there's also a bazooka, flamethrower, minigun ect. and silencers, scopes, and such that can attach to many of the weapons

guns are going to be limited to certain areas which have armories and will only spawn if there are no players within like 100 blocks when night falls, and despawn when the sun rises. so basically to get a high end gun you need to battle across the map at night, lower end misc weapons will spawn with highend loot chests like normal.

Are you going to wipe player inventories for when you reset the map? Weapon choices look good by the way!

yes as some people are still carrying around things that aren't player placable like workbenches

that is both an annoying but good idea.

Well if they didn't we'd all just camp in forts where they'd spawn and snipe all the time. Which kind of defeats the purpose of it.

We also learnt how "great" bunkers are. Eventually they'll spawn in the walls and pull you through.

Yeah, it was also cool being under it. Standing there making plans, then I fall through the floor. Only 20-30 down there to lead around the wiring for a while.

Had some interesting bits in the back of it, meaning there may have been more to it. I don't think they could get through obsidian though. If we really really wanted it, we could protect the wiring then maybe flood it with lava or cacti or something. I still sort of want a go at figuring out the code to it.

I took it down to do some testing and get it ready to run the gunz+ mod tomorrow

Server is currently running spout, gunz+ are enabled and working! I increased spawns a little since monsters are having difficulty dealing with the dynamic lighting, enjoy!

I noticed that spout has a feature to change the day and night cycles. Have you disabled this via the server or the like, or does it just appear to be day or night for that particular user? (there wasn't anyone online to check).

^^ Its a great program though, and thanks for bringing my attention to it. ...I don't know about the ridiculous fps increases, I mean 103 fps with a 128x sized texture pack and everything set to high on a six year old computer is insane. =P

Oh, and there's a few texture packs that people might want to know about via Spoutcraft (texture packs/database): Fallout (64x), Last Days (32x), Mine 4 Dead (16x) and Moderncraft (16x), which fit the setting. =P

I can't join the server. It keeps saying that the operation has timed out.

This 'spout' thing doesn't seem to want to launch, so that's that.

I'm home in 3 hours and jumping on if its up. This finally got me back into vannila minecraft

...but it's not vanilla, it's zombie apocalypse with guns.

I enjoyed this the other night, but I'm afraid with the Spout requirement and guns, I'm out. I have plenty of games with guns.

Was a hassle to get going, but I kind of like this client. Adds a few useful things and the shaders are fun to mess with. Though it does bring me to three now as I still use the vanilla client for normal multiplayer.
