I have a couple of Eldar questions, and they probably apply to the weapon tactics of any other army:

1)) What/are there benefits to equipping two EML? How do you manage twin-linked/multiple template weapons?

2)) I have seen a couple places that Eldar weaponry is of higher technology and therefore more precise/accurate. In other words, exempt from scattering. This seems to make sense. When playing tabletop, are there any weapons that are resistant to/exempt from scattering?

3)) I am having trouble figuring out which templates go with what weapons? The rule book says "clearly defined in the codex"? The codex reference sheets say "template", or have "heavy 1/heavy 2", and "blast/pinning"... what do these tell me? I have not found a solid explanation of what these terms are and how they relate to the mechanics of the gameplay? Am I looking in the wrong place? I have searched the rule book and the codex and am still left with a bit of a gap. Is there a simplified game guide somewhere? My son and I are just starting to play and I am trying to get more of a step #1..., step #2... layout of the gameplay. I have written a spreadsheet to pull and auto-calculate the points and stats of each army and analyze the units being fielded so that I can run a report/roster each time we play that has the numbers right there, but I would like to improve my "game-guide" so that we can have a 1-2 page sheet to follow and we don't have to spend so much time digging through the books.

Any help would be awesome!

If you take 2 EML it becomes twin-linked.Twin-linked blast weapons may re-roll the scatter (and have to re-roll both the scatter direction and the distance if they do).

Only the vibro-cannon could be regarded as a 'template' weapon that does not scatter. If you roll to hit and hit, you merely draw a line in any direction.

The 'template' means the flamer tear-shaped one
'Blast' means the smaller circular blast template
'Large Blast' means the bigger circular template.

There are cutouts in the back of the rulebook for you to copy/cut out.

Ok, thanks!

I am still wondering what the difference is between Heavy 1, Heavy 2, Assault 1, Assault 2 ? How about Pinning, Sniper?

the number at the end is the number of shots it gets to make in a turn.
heavy weapons can be fired at full effect only when not moving
assualt weapons can be fired while moving at full effect.

things that are pinning require a pinning test. sniper weapons allow you to pick the wound allocation on a 6 and have rending.

There are a bunch of additional rules but it is best to carefully read the rulebook and then play a friendly game with someone who can explain everyhting.

Thus an eldar parthfinder with his rifle is heavy1 (cannot move and shoot except snapshots, cannot assault if fired, 1 shot per turn) Pinning (if the unit causes at least a casulty, the opponent has to take a morale test or go to ground) Sniper (always wounds on 4+, had rending [6s to wound are ap1] and can pick the model to wound on a roll od 6 to hit, as opposed to your opponent).

A guardian however would have an assault 2 weapon (can always fire twice per turn and may stay immobile, move and assault regardless of firing). The higher number of shots (2) also applies to snapshots and thus overwatch.

Just a note on Eldar Guardian Troop squads with a Heavy Weapon platform, they can move and shoot as the weapon is on grav platform.
