After drooling a little bit over the possibilities of the Quad Gun I decided to do something about it
Not wanting to follow the standard brute force approach of the Imperial pattern for any of my armies (advanced Guard, Tau and my Terran/Protoss alliance force) and a little inspiration from
dnptan Ive got the following progress to report.
Rather than having the static Imperial interceptor mount I thought it would be better for my army to have something a bit more mobile that could be deployed easily, and hence with a little help from Puppetswar I have my Quad Gun:
OK, so it doesn't have 4 barrels, but after seeing
Guarder's awesome Hydra conversion, I had to have some of that action

The only problem at this point is that Puppetswar sent me 2 left hand cannon

Currently trying to get a replacement right hand cannon.
The self-propelled platform can also be outfitted with an Icarus weapon mount:
The puppetswar stuff is pretty good (the wrong bit nothwithstanding) with a few holes and a bit of flash, but generally nice and clean with minimal warping. The Icarus has been modified a touch to allow a higher elevation as it is supposed to be an
AA mount.
Anyway, on to my favourite bit, the Aegis line concept
So, we need a defensive line with no simple big chunks of metal allowed. Energy fields are the obvious alternative so below is my prototype portable energy field generator. It didn't quite fill the base for the 2" defence line length, though. So what else could help against incoming fire? Drawing on the awesomeness that is Starcraft 2 again I pulled together a
Point Defence Drone lasering an incoming missile
This was a good fun build and I've got enough of the bits left that I should be able to whomp up another couple of PDDs to be assigned to other Aegis line bases. I'm not as taken with the energy field as I think the generator is a bit big for the field size. I will probably try another one using a the larger flying base.
I also have another idea for a rather less advanced defence line concept, but I had to get the PDD done first

(this base can always be the prototype used for closing the back door)
