Hi dakka comunity im new to this but as my first order of buissnes I want to convert a standard dreadnought into a tech-Marine dreadnought but i want to know what the community thinks it should be equiped with and look like i was thinking a standard dreadnought arm painted rust red with mechandrites made out of wire and greenstuff for any specialty tips (cameras, plasma cutters, pincers, etc.) tell me what you think.

Slow down buddy. Break up your sentences, use punctuation and capitalization, and so on. It'll make your posts much easier to read, and people will be more receptive to you in general if you type well.

Converting a Dreadnought to look like a Techmarine Dreadnought would be pretty cool. The close combat claws on the Ironclad dread look like heavy duty servos, they might be a good starting point. Hell, that whole kit would, with it's segmented armor that echoes the armor on Techmarines.

Sorry for the bad grammer im doing this from my I pod so grammers kind of hard but I totally agree with the power lifter claws,I was thinking of putting those on top of the dreadnought.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I did not realise they were linked together so splitting those apart would be key.
I was also thinking of using the sentinels legs and choping them off at the first knee and then attach those to the seperated power lifter claws.

So take an extra minute to make sure your writing is legible? I post from my phone all the time.

Sentinel legs look really weedy on Dreadnoughts in my experience. I don't like the look, but some do.

The sentinels legs would not replace the dreadnoughts legs the would become the arms for the pair of pincer hands that go on top of the dread.

@ OP. A staff member at GW Belfast has done this and if you give me a few days I can get pics. It is essentially 2 buzzsaws from the Deffdread, along with a skorcha and something else mounted on Deffdread arms coming from the engine of the Dread.

That not exactly what i had on mind all I wanted to do is claws on top of the dread and the flamers and asorted cutters in the nest of mechandrites that are coming out of the palm.
But I would love to see those pictures you were talking about.

Well I may be down at the GW on Saturday. I would need permission from the manager of coarse as it is his but I am sure he wouldn't mind. If not it may be a while untill I could get any.

Add in the fact that iPhones/pods have built in spellcheckers and simply tapping the space bar twice adds a full stop....

Just sayin'

That thing is freaking awesome! No painted pics of it yet I take it?

As for doing grammar and spellchecking on an I-thing, I almost exclusively post from my iPhone and if you slow down a splitsecond then grammar correction isn't too hard.

That said, I love seeing great conversions so knock yourself out. Using sentinel legs for powerlifting arms sounds like a good plan.

Okay, FFS people leave the grammar alone, its fine. Also a good way of doing it would be combining the Ironclad and the Pentient Engine from the SOB range

I think the trick to making a presentable TechDread is all in the servo arms. You can do what you want with the legs, body, and arms but if thats all you convert then it really wont be immediatly recognised as a Techie.

So you ask what the dread should be equiped with, well its a basic purpose dread then some dual TL AutoCannons is simple enough and you could add some basic looking servo arms for flair.

Btw this might help inspire you

Another idea is to give the dread an extra pair of legs for more strength and stability. The normal dread legs look cool so another pair of those maybe.
I was also thinking huge power tools, but that might take it too close to a servitor

I love the pic but giant power tools and treads in my opinion would make it look to much like a servitor. And does any one care for a fist full of mechandrites for the small stuff or should I cut that idea.

Sorry for the repeat

I dont want it to be a standard purpose dread I want it to be a giant freaking tech-marine that when the time comes can also completely destroy anyone who has the balls to attack it.

Don't want to revive it too much but I finally got those pics of the one a local GW staffer did.
As you can see he has used an Ironclad as a base and added 2
Deff Dread claws, and a big shoota and skorcha.

i have pics halfway down this page

I used sentinel powerlifter arms from an old konami aliens power lifter toy.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

This might help.
It's a cool add-on conversion beamer.

I think it would be cool to give it some kind of cloak with a ton of arms and wires and such coming out of rips in it. Kinda like Doc Oc in his lab coat. That would eliminate the need for a bunch of joints and stuff, too.

I'd probably start with this and remove all of the feahery stuff. But the skull head and tubing under the torso look like a match for a tech marine to me.

Lots of good attachments for the servo arms as well:

That sounds pretty cool. There's lots to be done. It doesn't have to be all red either. That might get annoying to paint and as a player, look at all the time.

Honestly, I'd like to see a tripod dreadnought with a big conversion beamer mounted somewhere. It could be a count as plasma cannon, maybe? Servo arms are cool, just make sure they aren't placed wrong, because I could see that easily going wrong.

I used a 2nd dread torso as the backpack, and defiler arms as the claw, the other side is a spear dread arm, all magnetized

Yeah the more I read through these posts the more I got inspired. I think Master of the Forge is the way to go! I think it's the only way you could justify a techpriest in a dread, anyway.

The conversion beamer is a great idea and i was thinking red and black with white details

I have done two techmarine dreadnoughts, not amazing, but they're decent

And then one with a conversion beamer, usually used as tl lascannon and missile launcher in standard games.

Sorry about the poor quality of the images, but you get the idea. Basically loads of dreadnought and techmarine parts, some of the CoD scenery for the latter dreadnought.

I am sure there is precedence for this. I think i read a book recently with a tech-Dread in it....Ultramarines book maybe?

I think it had a combo of Seismic hammer and massive drill on one arm. So maybe a tech version of a Dreadnaught sized <thing an apothacary has> (can't remember the name!).

the other arm could be either the big claw from an Ironclad or the fist from a Venerable (the latter looks more dextrous for repairing stuff). If you wanted to do a Conversion beamer you could have it mounted on the carapace or on one of the shoulders
