I have two predators. They are Emperor's Children predators, and mount Blastmasters in the turrets. The Blastmaster can fire as S8 or S5, according to taste. Which of the following is true: 1) The Pred can move 6" and fire the Blastmaster at S5 (along with a single lascannon sponson). 2) The Pred can move 6" and fire the Blastmaster at S8 (along with a single lascannon sponson), as the Blastmaster *can* be a defensive weapon. 3) An enemy must elect to destroy a lascannon sponson over the Blastmaster, as the Blastmaster *can* be a defensive weapon.

Only #1 is true.

Page 63 states that for weapons with a variable Strength, the Strength the weapon uses that turn determines whether or not it is offensive or defensive.

#2 is false because you'd be firing two offensive weapons (S7 or above).

#3 is false because offensive/defensive weapons don't matter for the weapon destroyed result. Only that the weapon must be at least S4 to be destroyed.

1 is true, 2 is not. The weapon is determined as defensive or offensive by the profile which you use for it.

3 I'm not sure about.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. The rules don't cover this at all, but here are my opinions:

1) I'd be inclined to say that the Blastmaster CAN be a defensive weapon at the time it is fired for purposes of firing another gun; as long as you fire it at S5.
2) I can't see this being allowed by anyone.
3) I think the firer would have free choice to take the BM.

I am on crack. Thank you for the correction, Yak. You are a scholar and a gentleman.

(See folks, that's how you respond to a perfectly made point in a debate).

That's for the clarification. I missed that part of p. 63.

(Sorry for the initial formatting; the post editor doesn't like Opera, and I forgot to insert my html tags.)

Ragnar, can I have sum crack, too? LOTS of pre-Adepticon painting to do, and I could use the paradigm shift.

By smoking crack?

I suppose that does explain some of the arguments that do crop up in this forum...
