So, I have yet to play a game of 6th edition... I own the new rulebook and I've read it (At least the rules portions of it.) and while I know that I'll probably be playing some games of 6th edition soon, I'd be just as happy to stick with the old rules just the same.

So, how many of you guys are still not playing 6th edition?

I can't wait to play more 6th edition games.

5th Edition is history man. Let it go. Stop stalking it on Facebook. Don't call after midnight just to hear its voice and then hang up.

Move on.

I only played like 2 games of 5th.

I've played 3 games of 6th.

I tend never to look back after anything new in a series is released.

Except Halo 2. The best Halo game ever.

I feel the same way on all accounts. however, i need to lay hands on the 6th ed rules. maybe someone buying too many Dark Vengence sets can part with their poor man's rules.

Half the time, I think we are playing 5th edition. There are times when we forget rules that have changed but we interpret them under the old system.

Kinda miss it, but once I get more games under my belt, 5e will be a memory.

Of course, by that time, 7th edition will be out...

I'm actually surprised that more people aren't sticking with 5th edition at least until a codex or two come out.

I guess I just need to start playing some 6th edition games and I'm sure it will grow on me.

Well, I only have one friend who has actually purchased the new rule book, and I can't seem to bring myself to buy a $75 rulebook for a game I barely get to play any more....I really want to play a 6th Ed match, however

EDIT - So to clarify, I still play 5th edition when I get a chance to play

Seeing how well your codex copes with 6th ed is part of the fun. You can do all the mathammer, but actually playing the game is better fun. Beside, are you planning to jump boat everytime a new codex comes? Because they'll always be better(GW's law). If not, and you're sticking with your army then you're in for a looonnnngggg wait unless you're playing chaos marines or DA.

I've not really remembered all the rules, but because I only really play with my brother and my mate, we've decided to play 5th with cool rules from 6th. Until at least one of us learn the rules, we'll continue thus.

Am not playing 6th. Will not play 6th. Looking for like-minded players. In the meantime, am looking into Malifaux.

Amen?

We played a bit of 5th after 6th came out only because it was already planned with missions and such. But after that, 6th all the way.

Played 4th, people who want to return to that edition are absolutely crazy.

Played 5th, was alright, bit bland and vehicles got to big a boost.

Played 6th, I'm loving it, hoping the codex's don't ruin it and that we'll have an 8th edition fantasy balance going on here.

I wish more folks would embrace 6th Edition, really. Tournaments in particular should buy in. Try a double FOC run, seriously.

I like 6th edition so far, there were a lot of things I really liked in the changes from 5th to 6th. I haven't played any games with double force org yet because at the college where I play most of the students who play can't afford it.

Pros of 6th edition(at least as I see them):
Allies(love bringing Orks for fun)
Snap fire (being able to shoot while gone to ground and move and fire heavy weapons)
Over watch
Assaults being a bit more random
Challenges
Hull Points
New night fighting
Old dawn of war gone
more missions in the book
Better deployment types
Mysterious objectives
Mysterious Pools
Mysterious forests

My friends poor Tau fire warriors in our first game deployed on an objective in a forest and we rolled for them, it was a carnivorous forest with an exploding objective, the incident is now just referred to as poor tau.

But you can't stop "progress", so I have to accept Warhammer 40/Fantasy until the next edition...

Switched as soon as I got the rule book and haven't looked back, took a few games to get the new important stuff down, kept forgetting to overwatch . Overall though it was an easy transition and 6th is great. Better than 5th imo.

The small rule book is now available on ebay etc, the big expensive one has lots of nice pictures and stuff but after a 10 or so games it was getting darn heavy and cumbersome.

I haven't played 5th since the 6th ed book released. And I'm not looking back, either. I hate hate HATED 5th edition. I would gladly go back to 2nd edition, though.

Yeah, I was never a huge fan of the design paradigm that 3rd through 5th tried. 6th brings back a lot of the stuff that kept me playing 2nd throughout that period. My main love with 6th Edition is that it generates stories (i.e. "and then there was this one time when..."). I never got that with anything from 3rd to 5th, none of them ever seemed to form a narrative around the game; it felt like I was playing a Napoleonics game with the wrong models. A little bit of random chance (I like calling it risk though since most of it is fairly calculated) is all in good fun, especially in 40k where part of the point of the setting is the inherent madness of the battlefield. The re-inclusion of Overwatch as a charge reaction, the more interesting Assault phase (seriously, the new pile-in actually puts some second-to-second decision making in there!), the improved wound-allocation system, the more dynamic vehicle damage system (so close to just going back to wounds and toughness for vehicles, I can taste it!) and all of the extra flavour added on (surprise objective effects, odd terrain effects, randomized psychic powers, warlord abilities, etc.) just lend the game more toward "remember that time when..." stories. And those stories are why I kept playing 2nd Edition and largely skipped the other ones after trying them out a few times and finding them bland and lifeless.

6th Edition is a definite improvement as far as I'm concerned. I would never go back to anything other than 2nd or RT and with 6th being so fun, those will be more like special occasions than business as usual (sometimes you just feel like rolling up a random army and characters and having at it in RT).

Once 6th hit, 5th was nothing but a memory. I enjoy it overall only complaint is the basic rulebook psyker powers. Oh, I will use them because they are over powered as hell. But keeping some powers codex specific keeps with the armies theme.

I need to return some video tapes.
