Hey everyone, long time Heavy Gear enthusiast here, just getting back into the game. I am painting up my Southern and Northern armies and wanted to keep a blog here to get some feedback and hopefully inspire some folks!

Also, if anyone’s looking for a game Frontline Gaming has a small but growing Heavy Gear scene and we’d love to get more folks involved! This really is a great minis game, I love the rules and the models.

Here are the pictures so far with more to come.

I started with a black primer, and used an airbrush for the base coat. Here you can see the build up from black to green. Sorry for the not to awesome pics, better ones on the next update for sure.

My Northern Forces use a black base, and are airbrushed up from a drab brown, to desert yellow.

Update!

What do you all think, should I paint both shoulders red or just leave the 1? I think both red gives the model better balance.

They look great Reecius, I like the camo on the Northern Gears. I was curious if the models from the previous edition of the game were in the same scale as the new ones? I have a set of old ones and may have to paint them up after looking at yours.

Nice Reece! (This is Dave from SLO, btw) I tried to get into Heavy gear some years back...a few years after they changed to the scale they are at now (The gears used to be huge). Still have a few sitting around somewhere. I'll be watching this with great interest...hopefully you will post some battle reports as well so I can see how the game plays.

So how did your southern army fare after the changes in the new book? Did you get a chance to look at the pdf?

Everything except the striders (the big walkers) are metal.

Looks great! I'm a bit jealous of your Northern camo. Mine are just beige with an olive green shoulder.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.
