Is it a unit or is it a fortification/terrain? It has a stat line, but has no unit type (Infantry, Jump Infantry, Bike etc..).

Doubt it. It is just a fortification not an enemy unit.

So a Bastion would count as one?

No a bastion would not count as one either as it is not a unit; it is a fortification. You are correct in that you do treat it as a transport in certain aspects; notably firing from it and embarking/disembarking from it.

Fortifications are not units. They are terrain. They do not count towards First Blood. It's why you can't cast Endurance on a Gun Emplacement.
