Straight forward question. Most codices have a psychic and buff non psychic. What is better in your opinion?

I'm noticing psychic are hit and miss and non psychics are more straight forward.......

I play Eldar, so psychic HQ's are.... pretty much mandatory. Army wide boosting ability as well as the best psychic defense out there.

With 6th nerfing the hood, I would say the only other army that probably needs a psyker HQ is space wolves. Otherwise, it depends on your list.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

It all depends on what the psycher can do and how much they cost. If they are cheap and have a good ability then take them if they are not and worthless then don't. You can't really compare a psycher to a non-psycher unless you have more information about the two. So read you codex, figure out what you want your army to be doing and then decide if the psycher helps you accomplish your goals.

It is difficult to say "Yes" or "No" to such a blanket statement. Different codices have different psyker stat lines and codex powers. Access to wargear can also determine how effective and how survivable they are in combat. They also have access to different BRB powers. To go with the codex powers makes the psykers much more consistent and predictable. Rolling on BRB powers has the opportunity for better spells but only a chance. Overall I would say they are good and definitely a good option for HQ choices. As a Tyranid player, 3/5 of my HQ are psykers so I don't have a ton of choice.

Canifex Quote: I love Rhinos. They are crunchy on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside.

Librarians for c:sm are a must have.

null zone for offence against invul. Essential

Edit Also taking TDA and SS makes for very durable HQ with S6 in cc if you have a staff.

Such a shame about changes to hoods

Now paying up for better psyker makes some more sense, although getting to 4+ save is no dead certainty anymore

Im expecting far mote psykers in general as a result
