What is the firing arc of flyers? For example, the necron night scythe and the doom scythe? 45 degrees for the night scythe destructor and 360 degres for the doom scythe cannon?

Under the couch

Hull-mounted (fixed in place) weapons are 45 degrees. Anything else is whatever the weapon is actually capable of.

^^ thanks!

EDIT: I checked that thread, highly debated topic. Looks like no consensus was reached before the thread was locked.

I'll be playing them as 45 degrees (for night AND Doom scythe guns) with my friends to avoid confusion.

Anything for an easy life.

Yeah, just sticking to the 45 degrees vertical/horizontal for fixed weapons and excluding obvious no-nos like shooting through your own hull is the only thing we can do in absence of GW publishing exactly how each weapon on each vehicle is supposed to be mounted.

there was no contention on firing arc, just on the type of hull mount

I couldn't get through all those posts, my ADD was kickin in. Anyway, I believe the argument was if the hull mount could rotate 360 which would allow the flyer to target model behind the flyer in a 360 arc instead of the 45 if the mount cannot turn. So, it sounds like the firing arc was in fact, in contention.

On pg 80 of the BRB it states under Flyers and Measuring that the vehicles weapons work as normal. So as long as the target is within the horizontal firing arc and you can draw LoS (and the target is within proper range, of course) you may fire upon the target.

Short version: Firing arcs for flyers is dependant on their weapon mounting. In case of Necron flyers, the Tesla Destructors are hull mounted and thus have horizontal and vertical firing arcs of 45 degrees.

If we assume Death Ray is pintle-mounted, its firing arc is limited to the amount that it could physically turn, if the weapon could physically turn. It can't though, unless you do some heavy duty conversion work on it.

Assuming Death Ray can traverse low enough to clear the tesla destructor barrels, its next limiting factor is the cables that connect Death Ray to the bottom hull of Doom Scythe.

Irdion bought the model and measured the cable lengths and came to conclusion that Death Ray could rotate max 100-110 degrees total laterally.
