Howdy Dakka, I am wanting to add some Ogryn into my Imperial Guard Force, however its £69 to buy them straight from GW, thats alotta money for 5 hunks of metal.

So I was thinking of trying to convert some Ogryn myself from the WFB Ogre Kingdoms range, but this seems like a rather difficult task, anyone got any advice on how to? Or where to get Cheaper Ogryn

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

The Frozen North

The process can be fairly simple if you are willing to break out the green stuff or other putty (or do some creative modeling).

The tricky part on these is that the gut has a large hole right in the middle that gets covered with a gut plate. This can either be covered over with a more uniform plate or filled in and sculpted to match the gut and belt. Something else that needs to be done is to round off the toes of their boots (unless you are playing Tallarn, then they are fine as is). As far as ripper guns go, I would take spare grenade launchers and add a clip to the bottom of the drum, crude but effective. Lots more that can be done if you want. Here is a bone 'ead I did up a while ago.

And here is a more in depth conversion for Nork for a Vostroyan style force...

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

Someone asked the same thing a couple of days ago & a link was provided to a tutorial on how to convert them.
Do a search in this forum to find it using 'ogryn'

Nice link and tutorial.
I still thinking don't like these models for my renegade ogryns.
They lack dynamic pose and the feel of movement.

For renegade ogryn, you may want to start with the WHFB minotaurs or the Vampire Count Crypt Horrors. Both are much more "aggressive" and feral. Ork big guns or heavy weapons teams heavy bolters or autocannons can make a good base for ripper guns.

A cheaper, but more in depth method (when it comes to sculpting at least) is the route I went with AoBR nobz. I straightened their legs, moved the heads up on their shoulders instead of all hunched & GS'ed them cadian style armor & respirators:

A bit on the small side but I used the Ork Nobz kit along with Ogre heads to get a Traitor Feel, then dunked in my bitz box until I had something I liked.
