Please do on the link! I'm struggling to fabricate something similar.

As far as the ogres, they're comixininos models, and they're huge! It's good they upped the scale on the new board to 32mm.

Thanks for the well-wishing on the ogres and the 555th - both were fun projects, and I'm looking to add a bit more to the Auxilia this month.

Hey man, I've got a quick update on this.

I explained the situation to FW, and they offered to replace the parts for free. I can't tell you how impressed I am w/ the GW approach to customer service. Whatever complaints I may sometimes have w/ their policies in general, their approach to customer service has always been incredible.

Thanks for the help anyway,

Well done mate glad you got it sorted and bloody good of FW to offer it up like that.

Thank god as I am going nuts trawling through FB trade pages I forget how many groups I had joined
I was even checking last night during T- breaks at work ha ha, nothing worst when you know you know you have seen it but can't find it.

So for today's update, I wanted to take a crack at the much-maligned Wulfen. When I saw the initial pics on the cover of WD, I was turned off. They seemed a bit over done IMO. Still, I figured it wouldn't be the first time a kit was better than the initial pics suggested, so I picked one up.

Turns out, it's a pretty good kit after all. The effect I'm shooting for is a more serious, less over-the-top werewolf in power armor unit (as ridiculous as that sounds).

Here are the WIP shots:

The only down side is that the kit doesn't go too far past the 5 models it comes with. What I mean is that the bits aren't there to spread the wulfen look out too much as the arms are a bit too big for other SM bodies and the non-claw weapons are a bit over the top looking for my goal. Still, on the whole, I've got no complaints, and I'll definitely be adding a few more wulfen to the list.

I think you have made good of a very over embellished kit, its a strange step GW have taken lately with their new releases I feel.
It seems that an over the top approach to models is the way nowadays, which is fine for character models but not for standard units.

Anyway nice work mate

Nice work on the Wolfen. They're looking really good.

I finished up construction on the Wulfen today and got them primed. Here they are w/ their armor base coated & ready for more work:

Russ himself is also completely assembled, primed, and ready to go:

Finally, my bits order came in for the replacement turret for my storm hammer (the turret was lost in my last move). The original turret is from a baneblade, and the crew is from an old malcador. It took a bit of work to match the holes & pegs, but I think it looks passable.

And that's all for today. Tomorrow, I'll try to finish the base coats on the Wulfen and russ & move on w/ completing the unit.

I finished up the Wulfen today. They came together well in the end, and I'm stoked about how the paint job turned out. I've also gotten a good bit of work done on Leman Russ. Ideally, I'll get him finished up today.

It's been a busy holiday in hobby land, and I was able to finish up everything on my bench. First up, the big guy himself!

Every time I build a primarch model I'm impressed w/ FW's ability anew. Russ really is an incredible sculpt, and while I'm not in love with the pose, he'll do the job of running the legion nicely.

Next up, I finished the replacement turret on the stormhammer:

For ridiculous, over-the-top, tankiness, you can't beat the stormhammer, and when I saw it, I knew it had to be the center piece for the Auxilia. They've already got a strong WWI theme going, and the storm hammer looks exactly like my vision of WWI tank technology taken to its logical conclusion.

Next up, I've got a FW order in to fill out some of both lists. 20 MKII assault marines, a 3rd quad mortar, and a replacement leviathan dread for the one the movers lost are on the way! Until they arrive, I think I'll paint up one of the 2 remaining drop pods I've got on the shelf. It's one of my least favorite jobs, but the pods need to get done sooner or later

More to come,

Dan

Alright, so in spite of my loathing for drop pod painting, I finished up the 2 that were on the shelf. Now the Wolves have a total of 6 + 1 dread pod, and in my book, that's plenty. Okay, so if we're being honest, 10 + 3 would be plenty, but I don't have the stomach to assemble or paint any more atm, so Russ has what he has.

Here they are:

The ridged armor kits look pretty cool, and if I ever paint any more pods (ahem - deathstorms), I'll probably get the after market doors for half of them.

I also finished up assembly on this guy:

He's going to serve as the quad gun for my Solar Auxilia. Their aegis lines are largely built out of old pieces of concrete, so I wanted a gun that looked properly portable.

Next up, I'm going to get to work on the FW order that's coming in. I've decided to use leftover wulfen parts w/ the assault marines to build a jump-pack equipped destroyer squad. I figure as the canis helix causes some guys to descend into feral lunacy, they get lumped into destroyer squads before going all the way off the deep end.

It's a real relief to be done w/ those pods btw. They've been on the shelf for years half finished. Anyone else have those units they just loath working on that lurk on the shelf for unseemly amounts of time?

Hi all,

I finished up assembly on my destroyer/ assault squad today. Most of them are on the road to becoming wulfen (hence the willingness to strap on a jump pack), but they've still got enough rationality to function in polite(ish) society.

Here are the WIP shots:

Seeing these guys put together, I can see why the inquisition is regularly knocking on the Fang's door. The canis helix seems a bit squirrely.

Next up, I finished putting together the new medical squad for my Solar Auxilia. I love these models. They've got that weird plague doctor look about them, while still maintaining the SA feel. On an aside, I'd really like some fiction released about the SA. I think they'd make for a few good HH novels, and it'd help provide more modeling inspiration.

More to come soon,

Dan

Evening gents,

I finished up the assault/destroyer pack today. They're on their way to wulfen land, but they've still got enough sense to fly around with jet packs and smash stuff.

Next up, I'm finishing the Solar Auxilia medics; then I'll get started on the leviathan dread.

Hasta Luego,

Dan

Hi all,

I spent the weekend working on the 555th, my Solar Auxilia regiment. Today, I finished up the 3 medics (w/ their patient), added decals and a searchlight to the infernus, and finished the quad gun for the aegis line.

Here they are:

I'm continuing the process of prettying up stuff w/ the new decal sheet, adding more weathering, and touching up spots that got nicked in the move.

More to come!

Hi all,

After a lengthy hiatus from posting (but not painting!) I've gotten off my ass and uploaded most of the stuff I've been working on.

I warn you now, it's a motely pile of stuff, with little recognizable theme - enjoy!

First, here's my progress on the Space Wolves. After finishing Russ, I decided to recreate the leviathan dread that vanished during the move:

Next up, I'm in love with the new Blood Bowl stuff - here's what I've done so far w/ the humans:

And finally, my newest project - a looted Kharadron Overlords army. It's going to be an AoS army w/ the KO rules - but obviously the ladz will be doing all the lifting. This one has been a blast so far:

Obviously there's much more to come on this project - stay tuned!

I'm stoked about the project too. I've gotten more work done on it and the Catachan 187th (I got a game in with them and felt inspired).

Here's what's new:

First, here's one of my favorite models in GW's entire range - the Kaptain. I left him stock (aside from the base) to run the Army:

Next, his trusty mate - da Navigater:

And here's the ironclad with the orkanauts around the base:

And finally, a unit of shooty guys (Grundstock Thunderers):

Additionally, while I was looking through dinosaurs to rebuild the sentinels the moving company lost for the Catachan, I had a great idea - why not go bigger?

As you can see, when his old girl got shot out from under him, SGT Chesterfield tamed something bigger! This guy counts as a Knight Gallant - in particular I think the rule where when a monster or vehicle is slain it can be thrown at a nearby unit is appropriate. I'm going to build 2 more "knights" to accompany him and provide the Catachan with some effective (and thematic) heavy support.

More to come,

Hey all, it's been a while, but I got a good bit done on a couple of projects.

First, I finished the trio of Catachan Knights - here they are w/ some WIP shots:

Next up, I finished 5 bullgryn for the boys in green. Here are the pics so far:

Finally, I painted up a lone angry marine just for grins. He's a primaris reaver with a pair of power boots. The primaris marines are so over the top that I'm actually inspired to do an army of Angry Primaris guys - we'll see how it starts to come together. On an aside, this guy actually put the extra contemptor feet I had laying around to use. I was never sure what to do with them until now.

So I was cleaning out the garage last week, and my boy mentioned that I have a ton of Catachan stuff. I looked at the shelf and realized he was right, the 187th Catachan regiment has gotten pretty sizeable over the last decade. We decided to set up the game table with the entire regiment to see what it looked like en masse.

Here are the shots:

It was a lot of fun pulling these guys out and setting them up. I sometimes forget the cool conversions that were built years ago until I get the models in hand again, and this was a nice chance to see everybody up close and make a few repairs. Hope you enjoy!

Up next, I'll post more pics of the angry marines.
