On Mars, in the year 2339, the only thing that doesn’t suck is the music. Free Mars: Ashes2Ashes - Revolution on a Red Planet. Ashes 2 Ashes is a new chapter in the Free Mars saga, an epic tale of punk rock, revolution, and the Red Planet. In this latest episode, Vikki Grimm and the band travel to the biggest shizz hole in the galaxy: Earth. Hoping to rescue the rebel leader, Damien Kessler, from the toxic zealots known as the Remnants, the girls discover that there are still darker forces at work on their homeworld. Your pledge will insure the continued weekly update of the Free Mars website, as well as the completion and publication of the Free Mars Book 2: Ashes 2 Ashes original graphic novel. Free Mars Book 1: Riot Girls is a 112 page, 6"x9", squarebound premium edition graphic novel in full color featuring production values well above industry standards. The retail price of this book is $14.99. This book is already printed. Free Mars Book 2: Ashes 2 Ashes will be a 48 page, 6"x9", squarebound premium edition graphic novel in full color with the same incredible production values as FMBook1. STRETCH GOALS: We have a number of stretch goals and cool extra rewards in mind which we will reveal shortly!! Support it here! Courtesy of BrookM: http://www.freemarscomic.com/

Right, sorry! His own art backlog takes second place to this, which is more or less his actual job. He does art commissions on the side. Just a bit miffed about the long wait.

I clearly see a mini
and in the bit at the bottom it says
"We can give Chris Borer the go-ahead to sculpt more 30mm miniatures (Samantha is already done). "
and the $40 pledge level is a 3 miniature set of the band

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Question, did he give you a completion time? Was he open about the time table or did he say "in two weeks"? Have been commissioning artists for over a decade now and overextended artists are not uncommon. Some are open that it will take a while (years).
And a year and a half is not that horribly long waiting on artists for art. There are some people who have waited for almost a decade for some pieces from certain artists.

Maybe this could be added to the first post by the OP or a mod: http://www.freemarscomic.com/ It's the first book for those who are on the fence about supporting the sequel or not.

Hehe, he's a popular artist, prolly the main reason I joined DevArt back in the day and yeah, he is a wee bit overbooked, but I'll shut up now.

Okay, I'm in. I'm not huge on Giancondino's artwork nor have I really read the webcomic. But I am all for getting more of this general aesthetic out there: it reminds me of the coolness of 90s-era 40k that only exists now on /tg/ and, to some extent, in FFG's various 40k RPGs. If you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me in supporting this KS!

That the artist is a big fan of the hobby might also be a great influence on how he does the comic. To me it almost feels like something that could take place in the many millennia preceding 40k and the craziness in general.

Cool stuff though this seems to be moving away from Free Mars and into 40k for some reason.

The people who are backing this seem to be doing it for the miniatures. Once you subtract the big ticket backers, the average pledge is $43.51.

Well then a little about the creators then. Mr Pauwels is a ten time demon winner Chris borer has four swords and many demons. Both are heavily involved with organizing Adepticon and are avid enthusiast of GW. So they are very much gamers at heart.

$45 is indeed the big sweet spot. Pledged to the revolution just now and maybe it's just me, but KS now automatically adds in the shipping amount, is this a new feature or did I miss it previously? Oh well, saves me the bother of doing maths.

I find the delivery costs rather high, with $15 the cheapest. The Troll Forged shipping costs start at $4. However, I can imagine the Free Mars stuff might be more fragile or something?

I'm going for the $45 deal and it might be a bit steeper because these are just two guys doing it, not a company with mailing discounts in the pocket.

Well $15 is not unreasonable
standard (cheapest) USPS flat rate padded envelope to the Netherlands is $16,
you might be able to get it a little cheaper ($12) by going for a weigh your own, but the maximum thickness allowed for this is 3/4 of an inch, very easy for a padded envelope & mini to exceed this meaning it doesn't get delived
