Looking for some consensus here. It is pretty clear in the BRB that you can't place objectives in or on a fortification, however what happens when you deploy a closed ADL? could you put the objective inside the perimeter? Since the fortification is actually only the actual line and you aren't placing it over it merely behind a bunch of them I'd say there is nothing stopping you from making so. If the answer is no, then what happens when you don't "close" it?

I would say no, for the same reason you cant place them in or on a fortification. Because its too easy to defend it.

I would assume it would cause a stir with more than one of your opponents (if your TO didnt outlaw it outright) but as long as its not in or on the fortification its kosher as a pickle. Its pretty much as basic as the question.

n0t_u: No, but six can shoot out of it. Other than that it's a Rhino with a Heavy Flamer thrown on if I remember correctly.
Pretre: Thanks! I guess my pants are safe and clean after all.

That it is, but is there anything stopping you per the BRB?, and then if you don't how far should you deploy it from the ADL, after all you can deploy it on a straight line and put an objective say.. 5" behind it? maybe 10", it will anyway provide cover for the unit holding it

Not any easier than putting it in a ruin. Actually, putting an objective on the second or third floor of a ruin is better than an ADL as you can't assault with certain units at those heights.
There's no defined "in" for an ADL and you can't actually put the objective "on" the wall, for multiple reasons, so other than placement restrictions of x" away from other objective and board edge, there's nothing stopping you from putting it behind an ADL wall..

Yah i'm with you on this one, and well the ADL do have the +2 to the ground over a ruin, having a 2+ cover for a unit form any direction sounds better imo, but yup same scenario

Mm, ya I did forget about the +2 gtg bonus, but you can get around the ADL cover saves if you have the high ground at least. High ground, focus fire, probably cause leadership tests and possibly cause enemy to run.

Yes, you can put an objective where it is surrounded by the ADL. Its not in a fortification or on a fortification.
You can't every have anything "in" an ADL at all. Its a linear piece of terrain that can form a circle.

Lo I would be more concerned about the objective on the third floor of a ruin. Putting it in the middle and surrounding it with ADL sections isn't even as bad as putting it in the middle of a mysterious forrest.
