Hey All. It's been a while since I've done anything on this website with my other blog. I didn't think I was good enough so I've been focusing on my painting and getting better. You can see in my gallery how bad the Space Marines were done. Since then I've painted Vampire Counts, Warriors of Chaos and Demons. The Demons are now on display at my LHS in Portsmouth UK. This blog is all about my ventures into the Chaos codex. I love Chaos. I had the old codex but I didn't really like it so I waited a few years for this new one to be released. My army is Undivided based with my own colour scheme. Brass armour with a silver trim, black glossed horns and hazard striped weapons. I was going to do Iron Warriors but I saw everyone was doing them. I can understand why. They are awesome. They are called The Brazen Legion due to armour colour and the sheer number of them (not at this moment but soon ) I'm trying to make every model have some form of conversion or customization on them, but I think this will be difficult but I'm willing to give it a go With out further delay here are the 2 marines I have finished so far. I apologize for image quality if it's not very good as I don't have access to a decent camera at the moment only my phone so please bear with me until I either find the good camera in this house or "borrow" my girlfriends camera .

NOTE: WHFB is also featured in this blog. Also with the same colour scheme and same name, I will be flitting between the two.

Time for a small update. Haven't really had a lot of time to do work on here. Been a busy few days, including a farewell party for a friend whos about to start basic training for the army. I still havn't been able to find my camera or "borrow" the gfs Anywho here is what Ive been working on

Really liking the colour scheme here. One thing though, I think you need to make the black on the hazard stripes a bit wider. Looking good though

Update time: I managed to get these 2 guys done. I'm pleased with how they came out. My favourite is the guy with knife on his head The first guy didn't really have much conversion done to him which annoyed me because I couldn't think of what to do with him. Still apologizing for picture quality

I was wondering if anyone could help me come up with some ideas for small conversions and such on these marines. It would really help me out

One crit for the last guys. I like the blade on his helmet but I would maybe shorten it a little. At the moment it looks a little unwieldy.

As for the minor conversions, what kind of thing are you looking for?

Hmmm perhaps your right. It does look abit on the big side in the picture. I will attempt to shorten it to see if it will look better. As for ideas things like bolter customization, armour modifications etc. Just to make each one different from each other. The 2 I've just cut bits out for will have warriors of chaos heads. Any help is very much welcomed

Squigsquasher:- Thank you very much. It's very easy to do. I used it on my khorne daemons awhile back and stuck with it ever since. It's a base of warplock bronze (tin bitz) which is then drybrushed with auric armour gold (burnished gold). I'm really struggling to think of small conversions to use on the 2 chaos marines I'm building. I've dry-fitted them with blue-tac hence why the biuld looks a little wonky Ideas very much welcomed

For armour mods the Blood Angel Death Company and Sang Guard torsos are great for showing some older marks or more ornate armour. You can pick them up really cheap from sites like Bits store and Hoard o Bits on Ebay. Bolter mods Im not so familiar with but for the chaos warrior heads Im thinking you may be able to do the kind of face swaps Ive been doing with my zerkers onto some CSM heads. I have no experience of this however so Im not sure how if it would be as simple as the Zerker swaps. Worth a try though.

Now that you mention it, I think I have some BASG lying around in a box. I will have to look for it and plunder it for the glory of the dark gods

Hey all. No update today. Maybe tomorrow. Last few days have been manic at work and i felt run down and tired and my gf was ill for a few days. I can't find my bitz box either which is really annoying as I need it for my work but I promise you an update either tomorrow or the day after

Update time! It's not a massive one but an update none the less. It's just a couple of weapons that I converted a little to go on chaos marine 6.

CHAINSWORD: All I really did was carefully cut out the chaos marine hand and place in a knife handle to make a free chainsword. I find it strange that there are no options for this on the sprue anyway. This will probably sit on his belt like a regular sword.


BOLTGUN: I love drum-fed weapons. I love the look and the way it sound when you say it I removed the ammo belt hanging down and replaced it with a IG greande drum I had lying around, as I figured boltgun rounds would need a large drum since they are large rounds. I didn't tjhink it was chaosy looking enough so I cut the face off a skull and stuck it to the front face of the drum.



I'm stumped for ideas on what to do to chaos marine 5. I'd love to hear your ideas

Hey all. There might not be any updates for a week or two as my pc is dead/dying so I'll be taking it to the shop for repairs I'll be back soon as I can. It's tempermental so it might work for a bit or all day and other times not at all so there might be a few updates if I'm lucky. But probably not. Lets hope it's repaired quickly

If you go for a plasma gun, how about having a skull on the end, with the skull itself forming the front of the weapon and it's jaws around the nozzle, so each time it fires it looks like a skull vomiting a bright blue gout of plasma?

Success! My pc has returned!! After not being being fixed the first time round had to take it back after owning for a good 20mins But now it is fixed I will post a proper update soon but I havn't really done a lot. Found it diificult to concentrate on my painting with out the music on my pc.
Squigsquasher - that sounds pretty cool. I will have to remember that when i make my 8 or 10 plasma gunners

Time for another update!! Got 2 more marines finished. Not a lot of conversion on the first guy, only replaced a shoulder pad with a chaos marauder one. The 2nd guy has a IG radio pack on his back and the nurgle helm from the sprue. I removed the horn and then proceeded to look through my bitsbox for some sort of power cables. After attacking spare terminator arms I cut up the cable into bits and glued each bit together to form the main cable. I used green-stuff on the helmet to make a section where the cable would enter. I think he looks pretty good

I've nearly finished the ranged marine squad, I'll be starting the CCW marines after as I have some old ones I made for the old codex. I may have to operate on them I also have a terminator lord kicking about from the old book as well who needs painting, so really all I'm missing are the warp talons, heldrake and forgefiend. They will be done so stick around. There will be a lot of chaos-goodness (if that's even possible?) once the army is ready as I'm going to town on every weapons choice and weapons available should have something like 200 odd models I think when I'm done maybe (unless I just keep adding).

I hope everyone had a great christmas I only got 1 thing related to the hobby and that was from my mate. A lovely box of Warp Talons I really wants to work on them but I fear I need to practice my paintscheme a few more times then give them a go. I don't want to ruin the gorgeous models

With the aspiring Champion I gave him a plasma pistol and I was tryin to get a OSL effect. I think it's ok. I've seen worse attmpts. It was drybrushed red gore (wazdakka red), blood red (evil sunz scarlet) and then blazing orange (troll slayer orange).

Advice is greatly needed for my OSL attempt before I attempt it on other things I have instore

Next lot of work will be my CC squad of 10 Marines. I'm hoping they wont take long as they are prebuilt and sprayed from my last attempt at CSM. So theere will only be a few conversions in this squad.

Don't knock that freehand. It's looking good. It takes me around ten tries just to do an elite symbol.

I like the feel of the army. It's very dark. For some reason I picture these guys very ominous and quiet on the battlefield.

Ah it's been awhile! Been really busy at work and tired in the evenings. I also got distracted by Borderlands 2 which I've now finished.

Gorgrimm: Thanks for the kind words. It's like they say "Practice makes perfect" so I'll keep at it. I like the image you painted of the legion. All I can think of for them is that they love Daemon Engines. Perhaps the machines will make the noise for them

I've finished the first 2 guys of the CC squad but I've mis-laid my phone so I don't have pictures for the moment. I'm sure I'll find it tomorrow and when I do I'll post the pics.
