HELLO. So, thanks for contributing to our VERY IMPORTANT POLLS. These polls made the game possible, and will definitely increase the number of viewers of this thread. Yup. We had considered posting each separate event in the game under a separate poll saying 'WHO WILL WIN' but we haven't.

ARBITES ARE BACK. We've tried out the Arbites in 6th, taking advantage of the Allies rules to represent some choices. The 3+ save Sisters have had little round 'Riot Shields' attached to them to make them look different to the 4+ save Grenadiers, but I don't like the look of them. I'll be converting something better this week...

ArbitorIan's Arbites (Sisters with Guard allies) - 1500pts

* Judge Jacobus (Uriah Jacobus)
* Suppression Team (Battle Conclave) - 4 Cybermastiffs, 5 Suppression Arbitors (4 Death Cult Assassins, 5 Crusaders)
* Combat Team (Battle Sisters Squad) - 2 Flamers, mounted in a Repressor
* Combat Team (Battle Sisters Squad) - 2 Flamers, mounted in a Repressor
* Response Team (Dominion Squad) - 2 Meltaguns, mounted in a Castigator (Immolator)
* Exorcist
* Exorcist

* Marshal (Company Command Squad) - 2 Plasmaguns
* Patrol Team (Veteran Squad w/Grenadiers) - 3 Grenade Launchers
* Patrol Team (Veteran Squad w/Grenadiers) - 2 Grenade Launchers
* 3 Armoured Sentinels with Multilasers

Panic's All Girl Hellion Display Team - 1500pts

* Baroness Whatsherface, the Skybitch (Baron Sathonyx)
* Haemonculus
* 10 Hellions
* 10 Hellions - Helliarch with Whip Thing
* 4 Kabalite Trueborn - 3 Blasters, mounted in a Venom - Shadowfield, 2 Splinter Cannons
* 4 Kabalite Trueborn - 3 Blasters, mounted in a Venom - Shadowfield, 2 Splinter Cannons
* 5 Wracks mounted in a Venom - Shadowfield, 2 Splinter Cannons
* 5 Scourges - 2 Blasters
* Talos - Chain Flails, Additional CCW
* Chronos
* Chronos

Pre-game

We rolled The Emperor's Will with Dawn of War deployment. The warlord traits actually were remembered this time. Arbites rolled to control Night Fighting, which would be a bit useless as the more shooty army, and Dark Eldar got +1 save in ruins, which would be very useful. Dark Eldar deployed first, using the wall as cover for some Venoms and the Trueborn, while the Wracks held the objective and a harrying left flank was presented by two pain engines and an empty Venom. The Hellions and Scourges were in reserve.

Arbites then deployed around their objective in the biggest building on a refused flank. The only unit in reserve was the outflanking Response Team (Dominions).

The Arbites tried to steal the initiative, but failed. First turn to the Dark Eldar.

Dark Eldar Turn 1

The majority of the Dark Eldar force move forwards, many staying behind the cover afforded by the city walls.

Three arbitors are killed by splinter cannon fire from the empty Venom.

Arbites Turn 1

The Arbites line opens fire, both Exorcists managing to score a wound on each Chronos.

However, the rest of the Arbites line does badly, and everything else fails to score a wound. The line moves out and both Repressors pop smoke.

Dark Eldar Turn 2

The Baroness and her Hellion squad arrive from reserve, deploying behind the walls, as the Venoms and Trueborn deploy onto the battlements. The Chronos on the left fire soul weapons at the Marshal's squad (CCS) and kills one, but when it tries to charge it takes a plasma wound from overwatch, and fails to roll high enough.

The Trueborn fire on the Repressors, but the smoke hinders them and they only cause one glance. The Venoms fire splinter cannon at the Combat Team (Battle Sisters) on the large building, wiping out most of a squad.

Arbites Turn 2

The Castigator and Response Team (Dominions) arrive, but on the wrong side of the board - they make the most of it and target the Hellions, killing two. The two Repressors, containing a Combat Team (Battle Sisters) and Jacobus' Suppression Team (Battle Conclave) move up to the walls. The Combat Team deploy, and take out the entire closest Trueborn squad and Haemonculus, glancing the nearby Venom as well.

The Marshall, Patrol Team and an Exorcist fire on the Chronos and finally manage to take it's last wound, and the Sentinels target and destroy the opposite Venom.

The Repressors' stormbolters target the Venoms, but even with the second Exorcist joining in, both Venoms end the turn with one hull point remaining.

Dark Eldar Turn 3

All the remaining Dark Eldar reserves arrive, the Scourges aiming for the centre of the field and the Hellions deploying in cover behind the walls.

The Talos charges the Sentinals, but only shakes one, while the Chronos targets the Response Team (Dominions), killing two.

The Baroness and her Hellions then leap the wall, firing and assaulting the Combat Team (Battle Sisters) and wiping out the squad.

The Scourges and Blasters target the Repressors, removing the weapon from one and shaking the other, while Venom fire takes out a few more Patrol Team members.

Arbites Turn 3

The Repressors fall back, providing cover for the Suppression Team (Conclave) to deploy, while their stormbolter fire wrecks a Venom. The Response Team (Dominions) try to kill the approaching Chronos, but can't cause a wound.

An Exorcist fires at the remaining Venom, exploding it and killing one Hellion in the blast.

As, nearby, the Talos explodes one Sentinel and shakes another.

The rest of the Patrol Teams (Grenadiers) redeploy around the central building.

Dark Eldar Turn 4

The Scourges take potshots at the Exorcist but miss it completely. The Trueborn do rather better, destroying the closest Repressor. The Chronos takes care of the Response Team while the Talos fininshes off the last of the Sentinels.

The Baroness and the remains of her retinue charge through the wreckage into the Suppression Team, issuing a challenge to Judge Jacobus. He refuses and is placed at the back, while the combat around him evens out to a draw.

And the Talos consolidates through the ruins towards the Marshall's squad (CCS)

Arbites Turn 4

The Patrol Team advance on the Scourges, killing three of the squad with frag grenades and shotguns.

The Castigator realises it's in a good position for a victory point and moves towards the Dark Eldar deployment area, as the Exorcists and Marshall's squad target the Talos, but fail to harm it. The Suppression Team combat continues - both Suppression Arbitors (Crusaders) are killed but the Cybermastiffs (DCAs) kill the rest of the Hellions.

The Castigator in the bottom right corner moves Flat Out into the deployment zone.

Dark Eldar Turn 5

The second squad of Hellions just manage to reach the Baroness' combat, but there are so few that only one Cybermastiff dies. The Talos finally advances into the Marshall and destroys the whole squad.

The Chronos and Scourges then move back, attempting to destroy the Castigator.

Arbites Turn 5

The Castigator finally reaches the corner of the board, while both Exorcists still attempt to take down the Talos. Plagued by bad rolls all game, they take manage to cause two wounds on it.

And the Hellions still do badly, killing the last dog, but leaving Jacobus alive.

Arbites numbers are dwindling in the fifth turn, but we roll and get another.

Dark Eldar Turn 6

The Talos emerges from the rubble to completely destroy the Patrol Team (Grenadiers) nearby, while the Chronos and Scourges give chase to the Castigator.

Jacobus's rosarius proves amazing as he deflects every wound caused by the Hellions.

Arbites Turn 6

The Exorcists finally manage to take down the Talos as, after another bad turn of combat, Panic suddenly remembers Hit&Run and leaves the Jacobus combat to line up on the objective.

The Hellion contingent lines up on the Patrol Teams as we roll and get another turn!

Dark Eldar Turn 7

The Hellions charge the Patrol Team, killing all of them, but not getting enough consolidation to reach the objective.

While the Baroness takes care of the remnants of a Combat Team

And the Chronos and Scourges catch up with the Castigator, destroying it.

Though the Exorcist has now moved into the deployment zone, so the VP still stands.

Arbites Turn 7

But it looks like it's all over for the Arbites. The Exorcists try to kill some Wracks but fail to hit anything.

And Jacobus turns on the Baroness, trying a last ditch assassination attempt, but her shield holds.

End of Game! Dark Eldar - 4 (objective, linebreaker), Arbites - 2 (first blood, linebreaker)

Dark Eldar Win!!

All looking really nice there Ian. Panic and your armies are a real credit to both of you though I will hold judgement on the Wonder Woman T-shirt that someone is wearing.

This is how 40k is supposed to be played IMO -1000-1500pts on a nice looking table with lots of terrain.

It makes me pull sadface though to not see any pie-plates in a IG (albetit part) force, good use of the ally SoB rules which seem to cover a number of gaps for the Arbites.

Do you think some heavy armour would be in order to push(shoot) you on to the DE half or does it not meet the fluff test?

Where are the Lawmaster bikers you were making...I demand Lawmasters!

Great battle report. I love seeing the Arbites models, even if they have to count-as since they have no rules these days.

yeah,
feth yeah I won one!!! With Dark Eldar I bloody well won a BatRep!!

...

So 6th edition made the Web Way Portal pretty useless, I can't assault from it and the hellions/scourge can deep-strike anyways.
It would gain the pain engines 6" of risk free movement (..if they turn up on turn 2!)
But I feel it's no longer worth it's points in a 1500pt game. So I didn't take it...

I had a casket of flensing which I was disappointed in not getting to use... mostly because I had to check what flensing actually is...
And a google search gave two equally dark eldarish possibilities;
Spoiler:
The Free Online Dictionary: Flensing www.thefreedictionary.com
Flensed, flens·ing, flens·es. To strip the blubber or skin from (a whale, for example).

Urban Dictionary: Flensing @ www.urbandictionary.com
FlensingThrowing your shoulders back in an effort to hide your man-boobs during sex
Although it was probably for the best that casket stayed closed...

My first game using Gribbly Chronos's and they are pretty good bullet magnets...
T7 with 3+ (and with a pain token 5+FNP) they stick around for a bit. Spiriting a few pain tokens towards the girls, what's not to like.
I played it that a Chronos could generate two pain tokens in the shooting phase one from each weapon.. and another in the combat phase... plus normal power from pain tokens
Not sure if legal? Could a Chronos generate 4 or more pain token in a turn if it was extremely killy?

The Talos was also a badass once it reached combat...

I've been making Pain offerings and it's paid off, All Praise to the GODs of the DICE!!
(...Arbitor Ian had some shocking rolls in this game.)

I Won!

Awesome battle report, with really cool-looking armies to boot!

That being said, I think you made an error in one respect-- vehicles, as neither scoring nor denial units, cannot claim the Linebreaker secondary objective under normal conditions, though Fast Attack vehicles can do so in The Scouring and Heavy Support vehicles can do so in Big Guns Never Tire.

Your right,I was aware of the The Scouring & Big Guns extra scoring units, that's why I always try to have at least one heavy and one fast attack these days (I see what you did there GW!)... but we missed the Line Breakers Scoring details I guess 6th edition is still kicking in! but I think It would have been a Dark eldar victory

Indeed! maybe they are Dark Eldar Poll Engines! created by the Haemonculus's dark arts to feed on the 'power from polls'!

Ahh, bugger. Oh well, I guess I wouldn't have easted so much energy on getting that, then. but the result is still the same...

The worst was probably the Faith rolls. Even with re-rolls I didn't get above 4 per turn, and then not a single unit ever passed a faith test. You really notice the difference when using guard allies - I only had three units that could actually use them.

I'm also wondering about the viability of the Battle Conclaves. In 5th, they were my standard scary counterattacking unit, but in 6th, now that they can never assault outside a vehicle, I'm not sure how to use them. I don't want to go down the route of Arbites Land Raiders (not fluffy ) but can't think of another available (FW?) assault vehicle.

I'm off to convert some better riot shields and some counts-as Guard command units...

That is some cool gak. Wish I had friends that put as much time and effort into their armies. I also like the clear bases, I was thinking of using them on the Dream Forge models when they come in. Nice job on the bat rep too, the pics are pro looking.

@ ArbitorIan you are right conclaves have taken a big hit with 6th ed vehicle rules. I have tried running them on foot with jacobus but for 150 points they aren't the best choice. Could you run them as seraphim instead (the dogs at least)? That way they get to leap around, which is nice.
