It might be a little awkward to store, but IMO it's fine

The length looks good, but I woudl recommend only 1 "head". If you want to go with the 2 heads I would shorten the shaft a bit. At the moment I think it looks a bit unweildy, or more dangerous to the used than anyone else

Visually, the long double-ended spear looks fine. My biggest concern is that even if those spear tips are pinned (which I certainly hope they are), the model has two long sticky-outy fragile bits which will forever be getting bent or broken. Unless of course this will be a display-only model.

its a daemon weapon, of course its dangerous for the wielder!
how much shorter would you suggest? i could chop each piece of shaft that goes out from the hands in half? less/more?
regarding storage/game play, i am super careful and dont see it as too much of a problem although now you have me paranoid, maybe i will magnetise the daemonette claws so they can be knocked off without any real damage occurring

If you can magnetise a joint that small, I encourage you to do so - in any sort of impact mishap, the sticky-outy bits are always the first to suffer. The other good reason to do so is that it lets you model a choice of weapon tips then swap to the appropriate one for each game.

that seems like a good idea, i am going to model the daemon spears claw tips with flames coming off, maybe something different will enable a more puritan character using the same model, will think on it

I think it's just the right length. Are they 40k power fists for his hands?

yep, going to give him armoured gauntlets that boost his strength a bit, was hard to get hold of the right ones, so many of the newer ones are just huge.
the consensus accross the forums is its a tad too long so i will trim it a bit as soon as i get a chance

with the chance of a game of inquisitor possibly happening in the very near future i have begun work on converting a xanthite/oblationist type.
he might seem over powered for a normal pick up game but his foe is armed in a very similar fashion
the resin face didnt show up properly in the other pics
in a rush but he is basically into using chaos against itself but knows to do it himself would see him damned and his purity of cause turned against itself so he ropes other people in for the dirty work.

due to the hatchet job i did removing the flayed skin and spikes on his thigh i have gone for a mark v power armour feel on the thigh, bulked it out and added the iconic molecular bonding studs. my fluff already had him appropriating the armour in a damaged state so this can be one of the repairs that was carries out.
with this bit out of the way he will hopefully be finished building soon
currently thinking a slight movement penalty or chance of malfunction to represent the dodgy repair job maybe with an extra point of armour to that leg?

The studs are 1mm ball bearings, I normally use water filter balls for things like rivets but wanted something bulkier for this

Just want to throw my opinion in the pile, I like the length of the demon spear as is. If you asked the average persons opinion about most actual spears/lances/pikes from historical armies, they would likely say te were "unwieldy" or "impractical", but the fact remains that 9 ft. is more or less the average length for such a weapon and the sometimes approached lengths of 20 or feet.

The spear guy is a way off at the moment, ran out of steam on him when I decided to magnetise him a bit
A bit more work happened, turned the flesh/skin trophies into purity seals, got all the joints pinned and gaps filled, magnetised the head for a helmet swap at some point but the build on that isn't going so well.
And sprayed
Next I just need to learn how to paint white

Currently trying to decide on hair colour, any thoughts?

Leaning towards brown on the hair, when I put some paint on the hair I noticed a mold line running from ear to ear, like a proto halo. Some body on the conclave already suggested an iron halo and so I am having a look.
What looks better, with or without? Too over the top or is that what 40k is all about?

Have decided against the halo, it just doesn't work for me.
Started on his base last night and all of a sudden it was almost finished. Need to look at some occult symbols to add to the summoning circle, any suggestions?

Looking good, great work on the marble.
For summoning symbols you can't go far wrong with the eight pointed star/chaos god specific symbols.

cheers, they will be included but am after more than 5 symbols lol, am researching the dark tongue, chaos dwarf runes, might include the winds of magic as well
Started working on some of Magnire's retinue. these are the guys whos souls he callously damns to hell by making them do all the chaos tainted stuff he needs doing
the start of a tzeentchy puppetmaster, gifted with various trinkets this one time charlatan hypnotist now has real power over others and can make them do his bidding
a summoned warp entity, Vorvadoss is bound within a human host, a great sacrifice, but his daemonic fires shrivel other daemons into nothing instantly
my brother in law has the dremel at the moment, once i get that back the skull face can go deeper into the hood, the model will sit atop a pillar of flames and have fireballs in each hand. am considering using fishing weights to use as ball and chains due to him being a bit top heavy when atop the flames, any advice on a size/weight? not being a fisherman leaves me sorely lacking whilst looking at weights on ebay.
this guy is less a user of tainted artifacts and more of a potential apprentice. as a not-ratskin he will have put aside his own faith and used technology to protect his tribe despite being disowned for it. seeing something akin to his own oblationist views in the not-ratskin magnire keeps this awesome tracker nearby
needs a lot of greenstuff to meld the wolf head into the skins on his back(and cover his not so human ears)
scale shot
am after any ideas for additions whilst at the beginning stages, dont want to get half way through and be unable to add any suggestions
thanks for any thoughts

finished my Genestealer! cant get a decent pic of it however. had problems taking pics of my bfg nid ships which are in the same scheme. any tips on photographing models that are mostly black and glossed?
the scheme is basically that of a xenomorph from aliens with added green/yellow details
here are pics with my usual crusade of fire back drop
wasnt happy with these as the metallic blue doesnt really show properly so out came the light box. that didnt seem to help as can be seen in the spoiler tags, any advice is welcome
also am a bit stuck on what to do for the base? i have some bases that look like xenomorph infestation, i can do spaceship decking or something else?

With the possibility of a very real need for a space marine character at some point early next year I have started on my long planned, never started 54mm marine.
While I begin the slow process of reposing the Artemis model I am after some feed back on his gun. I am going with a storm bolter, I know it's a powerful weapon but if I am bringing a marine then the power level of the game has already been dialled up to 11, something powerful enough to warrant the inclusion of a marine in a game probably isn't too fussed on the difference between a bolter and a storm bolter anyway.
This doesn't look too bad imo but I am going to have to remove the pintle mounting which might take some tidying up afterwards, to save time and (possibly?) add wow factor I am considering adding additional ammo drums.
This adds to the bulky brutality of the weapon which is something I like and am reminded of molotovs truescale marine with stormbolter combined with grenade launchers, Segesvar http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7659464/9/
So what was originally just me playing with spare bits and trying to cover up some potentially uneven surface is beginning to grow on me, does the idea have merit or should I stick with the first version?

After seeing kaptidavy's version of a stormbolter on the conclave and somebody's suggestion my own effort was more of a combi bolter I decided to keep the combi bolter for a potential chaos marine and shamelessly steal kaptidavy's idea.
With the combi bolter for comparison
Just need to work out some sort of targeter to add some detail to the top now
