Today I found out while postin that mah talos's big tail gun(twin linked splinter canons. They fire 6 times in one turn.) only count as one splinter canon. There's two barrels, but each only fires 3 shots? Mathimaticly (big word. Learnt it at school today), since the two guns count as one, their basicly downgraded versions of a splinter canon a kabalite would use? I don't own the new rule book, so can someoneexplain this for me?

"Archon Yulliptidon sat apon a throne made of polished glass, which gleamed with magnificence in the rays of the dying suns, beautifully suspended above the the many razor sharp peaks that where Commorragh. The archon held within his hands a a delicate pyramid of sculpted crystal, from which emitted a faint glow, an echo of the soundless screams of pain belonging to countless tortured souls forever trapped within. The room in which the archon sat in was something like a throne room, but displayed apon the walls where helm of every color, but all the same in size and shape. Some bore eagles on their foreheads, and others still contained the decapitated heads of their previous owners. Two huge, beautifully carved iron double doors, engraved with intricate runes of pain and suffering, opened at the far end of the room, to reveal a tall, elegant dark eldar warrior, clad in armor made from bone and flesh. "lord Yulliptidon, you asked for my presence?" Said the arrival, " to what do I owe the pleasure?". The archon raised his elongated head, skin as pale as a full moon, eyes as vivid as a horrible nightmare. " I did not ask for you, Thrayon, I ordered your presence. Do not think to much for your self, for truly, you are not much past a feral that one would find on the streets. As for why I have ordered you to my palace, it is because their is a task that I wish you to preform. I wish you and you kabal to cleanse the imperial out fort of Sargosain Gastienagan." Thrayon was both aghast and interested at what the archon had just said. "Such a task would stretch my kabal to its limits, only a great reward would be enough to do a deed like this." Yulliptidon was outraged by the the proposal of a "great reward" by Thrayon, but did not let his anger show, hiding it with a cold smile that hid his evil intentions surprisingly well. The archon was was famous for never telling a lie in his life, but was very fond of veiled double speak, and this was no exception. "Do not worry, Thrayon, you shall receive what you deserve." Thrayon, happy with this outcome, left to carry out Yulliptidons task. Little did he know what was coming. Thrayon had done a thousand evil deeds, and what he deserved was a horrible death equal to to all those he had caused. Yulliptidons smiled. He was going to have fun."

The weapon fires six accurate shots.

Cinematically, it would be firing more, and six are on target from one barrel or the other.

Twin linking rerolls represent the volume of fire bolstering the weapon's accuracy.

A twin-linked weapon represents two identical weapons connected together and linked to fire at the same time, often through one pull of the trigger or push of a button. Twin-linked weapons are built this way in order to increase the chances of scoring a hit through the crude expedience of blasting more shots at the target.

It counts as one weapon with re-rolls on any misses to represent the greater chance of hitting. I preferred it in second where if you hit both weapons scored a blow but I digress...

I'm no deldar fan, but if I understand correctly, it just means you reroll to hit with all 6 shots. Honestly I wouldn't even look at the actual gun when trying to determine the rules for it. It's all about the stats.

Pretty sure twin linked stays the same in 6th from 5th

First, buy the rule book, otherwise you cannot play the game, at least not at a lot of stores or with a lot of people. Secondly, the twin linked rules are in the 5th ed rulebook as well under weapon types.. And finally, allow me to elucidate for you. The twin linked rule allows you to reroll all misses. For example, my TL SC fires, 3 hits, 3 isses, I can reroll the misses because of twin linked, I reroll 3 misses, two of which are hits, I now have a total of 5 hits, one miss. Each barrel of the cannon is firing 6 shots, both at the same target, making accurate hits redudndant, but allowing near misses to be adjusted for due to the volume of fire in a given area. In conclusion, buy the rulebook before you buy anything else for 40k.

Twin linking is a clever way of boosting a weapon's theoretical accuracy to a finer degree than just boosting the unit's ballistic skill.

There's a real world example of this (believe it or not). An american company called Dillon Aero who created the Dillon Aero M134 Minigun, during it's testing they compared it to it's main rival for helicopter mounted light armaments, specifically the m240. What you're looking at is shot density. Because the minigun fires so much faster it encounter's a phenomenon where it no longer hits proportionally to it's fire rate, it hits at an exponentially higher rate. You can see them explain the result here.
