Welcome.

Thought it was time to seperate my inquisitor characters from my Sons of Sek Blog, therefore this.
Also in hope to draw in a few extra eyes.

My initial plan is to create my former Dark Heresy players characters, for the same reason and actual Inquisitor will come later down the line.
For now there will be some Throne Acolytes, a single Throne Agent and then some of their adversaries.

So first let me introduce you to Cortez Baptista.

Cortez grew up in a Schola Progenium trained to be a Commissar from a very young age. He made it out of the Schola Progenium and started as a Cadet in the Tranch War. He only just made it to Commissar before an Inquisitor requested him to join the Inquisition, since then Cortez have been doing the Emperor’s Work. He has quickly fallen into the role of the leader of the group with inspiring words and even more inspiring actions. His purital and hard mindset have gotten into many problems, but he stays the same. He is still young, but has already managed to loss his left eye and arm (not in the same incidence). He is still wearing his Commissar cap and Flak-Coat, not to forget his monocle over his “healthy” eye. In combat he sheaths his power sword and brings forth his Garm-Pattern Bolt Pistol. In rare circumstances he takes out his Electro Whip to punish those who are so wicked that a quick death isn’t granted. A Mono Combat Knife is strapped in his belt as well. On almost all circumstances Cortez are wearing black leather gloves.

Next up is Metalus Avernus that I just started on.

Metalus comes from Quaddis, a Paradise planet in the Calixis Sector. He was born into noble status, and before he joined the Inquisition was just an arrogant, selfish man enjoying the pleasures in life. When time came he got a simple work as an adept in a library and he quickly found his interest - dwelling in many old and a few xeno texts. His interest for the alien grew, and there didn’t go long before his search brought him in the Inquisitions eyes. An Inquisitor came by and took him from his life in luxury so he could work for the Emperor in the Holy Inquisition. Since then his knowledge of the xeno has grown, but that is his only comfort. Metalus have blond hair set into a pony-tail and a luxury face. He wears a hardened bodyglove underneath his black-red noble garbs. He is found wearing a perfumed re-breather on almost all occasions to avoid breathing the “reeking” air. In his belt a Mono Stilletto and an exclusive Ceres-Pattern Bolt Pistol is resting together with a few pouches. A bag is strapped on his back where he carries data-slates, books, a writing kit and a medical kit.

Two more to come is the public relation techpriest Xano and the throne agent Elim Pretzmann.
That is all I will revel of the upcoming characters for now.

I have in mind to rework Cortez, since he seems to static to me, but first I will start to build up on Xano soon. When he is assembled I will start with some greenstuff on all of the acolytes.

Hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment.

Thanks Samurai_Eduh.

I can tell you he wasn't quite a simple conversion, or atleast a lot of different parts where used to made him. But I guess it's quite good you don't see that.

Liking the second guy a lot although I still can't quite work out what a luxury face is? Was it a plastic surgeon's creation? He definitely looks quite aristocratic however.

@Llamahead: Skincrafting is a rare thing in 40k, but so is being rich.

I made a few changes to Metalus's gun:

I think it improved the look, and make it seem more connected.

Next up I have Xano, still in work:

Xano was born in good status on one of the Lathes worlds, and the high ranking tech priest quickly learned about his talent to relate with humans. They took him from his home and trained him to be an emissary between the Adeptus Mechanicus and the rest of the Imperium. Following his training Xano used several years flying with the Adeptus Mechanicus around the Calixis Sector making contracts and connections from those who wanted the support of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Now he is recruited by the Inquisition to do the Emperors holy work. His calculating and analyzing mind makes him ideal on undercover missions and negotiations with citizens and allies. He wears a simple white robe with the cog symbol in a necklace and a blue cape on his back. In his belt a Kronus Mk III plasma pistol rest together with a simple Mono Sword. In his arms a D'Laku Hellgun rest. He also carries a dataslate and pouch with a Teck Kit. For a tech-priest Xano have incredible few cybernetics, and most of them well hidden, the most noted is the plating under his skin and the digi-laser incorporated into his right index finger. He is bald and his head looks like it have been re-shaped into perfection, giving him a very neutral look.

And a joined photo:

Cortez is not in the photo, because currently he is without arms.

Hopefully going to get the greenstuff out later today.

Cheers. Comments are more than welcome.

Got most of the greenstuff work done. It's drying now, so tomorrow I can hopefully file it a bit and give you some new pictures.

Looking good the subtle look of the tech priest is quite a departure from the tentacles everywhere look you always see but a good one.

Thanks Llmamahead!

Small update, got some GS fixed.

I'm thinking about changing the head on Xano to a non-hooded. Thoughts?

So I started a bit again, it really comes in waves for me..

Here are two heavy WIP figures.

The first is a navigator..

And the second is a "psyker"-hunter... Can't decide on how he should hold the "crossbow".

the navigator head looks too big... and i am not sure about that bandanna at all too... seems a bit out of place... possibly a wizard head... or some flagenlant head would be better... yeah... a blind one!

as for the crossbow psyker hunter... took me a while to see it as a crossbow... looked at the pics before reading so^^... pose ... first one looks better... but in terms of realism...secnd one looks more convincing...because, the bird... i know the bird is in for the fluffy look... and of course the coolness... but i think it is a bit too busy with both...

oh... and i love the stock on Metalus's gun... i will nick that love for detail from you

Not a fan of the crossbow/bird combo, it seems a bit complicated in a classic GW "look at all my gak" sort of way. Maybe put the crossbow on his back? or move the bird to his shoulder?

I think the pose could look a lot better if his arms are more outspread. His chest looks a bit crowded right now.

Thanks for the input!
Instead of just working on those two, I started two more - typical..

So I have some more wip pictures..

Bruul, the Psyker Hunter that I have given a powersword and put his purgatus bow on his back. He needs a bit of greenstuff and a pouch or two.

Engl, is the Rogue Traders Navigator who still needs an eye, something on his necklace and a rod to finish his staff.

Here we have Baston, the Rogue Traders Shipmaster, Pilot and friend. Also needs a bit more greenstuff work and maybe a pouch.

Lastly I made the Rogue Traders trusted Bodyguard, Léon. I need to do something about his right hand and maybe add some more minor details.

I will write some more lore up to each character, since I have lots of ideas already.

Like many of you other I am working on several warbands at one time, they are as follows:

Throne Acolytes (Tier 1): Pretty lowkey and simple throne servants that doesn't have much power or resources. Often based on my friends Dark Heresy characters.
Rogue Trader Retinue (Tier 2): Lead by Gizhaum Winterscale the retinue have strong resources, mostly a strong faith in the emperor and is alien friendly - often features as NPC's in my Dark Heresy campaign.
Throne Agents & the Inquisitor Lord (Tier 3): A Radical Ordo Xeno Inquisitor Lord and his sworn Throne Agents that have a lot of power and resources - the Throne Acolytes works for the same Inquisitor.
Arch-Heretic Apophis & Co-Villians (Tier 4): A sector threat that will be covered later on.

Currently I'm only modelling and using them for my Dark Heresy (Combat only), but I'm hoping to convince my friends in our warhammer club to start as well.

Anyways thanks for watching/reading.

Really liking your stuff thus far! I think the psyker hunter is my favorite- inventive use of several bits there.

If you didn't want to add a third eye to the Navigator, you might just give him a simple bandanna across the forehead. With an eye or some such on the medallion, he should be fairly Navigator'ish even without it.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks Xeno99. I will try my luck with the eye.

I hope that Léon and Baston doesn't end up too similar, but here are the pictures that I have used as inspiration:

Baston:

I need to work more on their legs to make them further apart.

Thanks for reading/looking.

I think that the two things I dislike most about inq28 miniatures is the disability to vary the kit and the heroic proportions can quickly overload a character.
Since I mostly use them in RPG's where the miniatures only really come into play I choose to load them with "all" of their weapons that they would opt to have in a combat situation. The problem with that is in most inq28 situations that is a complete overkill since most of it is player versus player and often negations.

Anyhow I almost redid Leon and started work on my rogue traders astropath, Mirr.
Here are some WIPs.

Léon, think I'm dissing the chainaxe completely and this is pretty much finished. The knife will be a chain knife, so far.

Mirr, is a rather untypically astropath in two ways, first she is very proud of being an astropath as she sees it as a blessing from the Emperor him self and secondly she trained in melee combat which she excels deadly moves with her force blade and uses her ability to feel her opponents around her.

Anyways thanks for reading/looking. I hope you enjoyed to see them as much I did making them.

A stormbolter is pretty powerful (and a bolt pistol?), but he could just be the "special weapons guy" in the same vein as a heavy stubber or plasma gun.

CC astropath seems a bit strange as a concept, but the figure itself is good. You might want to take off, or cut down the collar a bit though, as it is pretty tall for a figure without a cape or something to balance it out.

He is indeed a specialist in bolt weapons.

Valid point about the collar, it just gives a blanchie vibe I was thinking.

I have been thinking a lot what I need to do about Ranald, my rogue traders advisor/seneschal, he needs a lot more work but I am not sure what to do since I really like the base model. I could use some tips on how to make him better and what to do about the rifle, that is supposed to be a sniper-needle rifle.

Also a little tease..

Thanks for reading/looking.

Great base miniature. Where is it from? Not sure how to add in the rifle, although given his pose, it should probably be slung. Maybe hanging under his right arm, with the strap going over his body and over his left shoulder?

Thanks. He is based on Dalamyr Fleet Master of Umbar, a LotR miniature.
My initial plan was to put it on his back, but I first want to cut the rifle more down.

Nice looking characterfull models. I really like those converted weapons you created. i always love loking at rpg models like those as they tend to be really cool conversions.

And for the sniper i would add the rifle to his back and put a strap on it. Or you could add it leaning onto something on his base like a wall or so so that he can grab it quickly.
And i think he needs some hair and maybe some sort of targeter over his eye.
And as he is a LotR mini he might look a little bit slim next to the warhammer based model. You might want to add additional padding to his shoulder to bulk him out a little bit.

@btldoomhammer: Thanks mate. It is also what I really like, I often get tired by making armies and feel my self restricted. Also I love making personalities.
Was my plan to put it on his back, so good we agree!
Uhh, haven't tried hair before, any good tips? I think I will leave him without a targeeter since both Léon and Baston have that.
Hmn, I actual like that he is fairly small since he supposed to be an advisor/sniper.

After getting a package from Kraut and having the man-flu for a while I have started again, but with heavily inspiration from Fantasy since our RPG group have taken up WFRP 2nd with me as GM, this will certainly slowdown my Inq28 progress, but will kick off some weird fantasy project.

Anyways, some early wip pictures!

Update on the navigator:

A cultist/necromancer/sorcerer, can be used both in 40k and fantasy:

A chaos warrior/marauder/cultist of some sort both to 40k and fantasy:

A ogre/ogryn:

And I have to mention that right after the pictures was taken I dropped all except the ogre/ogryn on my grey carpet from waist height.. Not a happy moment. :(

I'm almost out of glue until my wayland order arrives so I will try to get some greenstuff and paint out. (Hopefully I can repair the damage done by dropping them first.)

Anyways thanks for reading/looking.

I haven't that much experience with hair too. But it helps to use a reference - either artwork or real hair.
Put greenstuff on the head in the shape of the hair and use your tool to add some strands. On shorter hair it is better to pull the hair towards the edge and on longer you can push the lines in. But you don't need too much detailing as most details are mostly based on the paint.
And try to create some overlapping strands as real hair doesn't allign perfectly and has a gentle flow to it.
Also clay shaper are very good for creating smooth hair strands with less tool marks.

Sad to hear your models dropped. It is always a terrifying moment of seeing you models fall in seemingly slow motion.
I had it happen only once so far with a metal tech marine. But other that a repainted dent on his back and a reglued arm he suvived it rather well.
