Feast your eyes. Yeast your drinks. Hell, I don't know, just have a look. I can't see any way selling these would be legal. But, if you have your own chapter and your own artwork, I'd be more than happy to make some of these for you. Ignore the tape residue on the top 1/2" of it, the masking tape I used was icky.

If, by some crazy stroke of luck, I can sell these, someone let me know. Until then, only homebrew chapters. If I get anyone wanting some of their own I'll have this moved to the buy/sell section.

Errrr, no, you couldn't sell something using a reproduced, copyrighted logo and Chapter name!

Pretty though, top work.

I figured. It's a publicly available font and the eagle was made by a friend in Photoshop, not copied from a website. I am really clueless as to where copyright law leaned on something like that. Glad I asked though, and thanks!!

Is this etched or painted? It's awesome!

Copyright/IP law is a horrible, tangled mess, it would seem (just look at any re-casting thread or the Chapterhouse issue). It'd be rather limiting to have to skirt around every single established icon, but sticking to fully DIY names and symbols is the safest bet, by far. Now I'm almost tempted to create a custom chapter, just so I can put my homebrew in a homebrewed homebrew logo glass.

Realistically, though, I'm more than set on the beer glass front (in fact, I barely have room to store what I already have). I am curious, though, about your method. It's hard to be sure from the pics, but the design looks highly textured - almost raised. Is it an applique or did you etch it? Sandblasting usually gives a finer, more lightly frosted look (from what I've seen, at least), so I would assume chemical etching, if it's the latter case. I've had a few unrelated project ideas kicking around in the back of my head for a while, so I figured I'd see if you used one of the usual suspects (Armor Etch cream, or the like), so I could know what sort of results to expect. Any tips on stencil material and attachment would be greatly appreciated, as well.

Etched. I cut a vinyl stencil and used my sandblaster to etch it.

I am very pleased with it and I'd love to make some for people, just nothing that's copyrighted.

Could etch your forum name or real name, any of your own original artwork, etc. I really only did this out of boredom, I've never etched glass before and wanted to try since I have the equipment for it.

The Imperial aquila is a copyrighted symbol. Word "Ultramarines," I believe, is not.

Oh, so it is sandblasted. You're useless to me, then. Thanks for the quick response, regardless.

Gahhh!!! I've been wanting to dabble in creating a real-scale purity seal!

That would be awesome, might have to do some Googling on that one...

Hah, no kidding. Yet, they will sell FineCast junk and have the balls to write an article detailing how to fix the air bubbles and imperfections. I don't frequent this forum much, I'm sure the FineCast subject has been beaten up and down.

There are quite a few chapter symbols you could use that arent GW's IP.

A few examples that a little tweaking could make them the same but different.

Flesh Tearers
Red Scorpions
Blood Drinkers
Carcharodons
Minotaurs
Iron Snakes

The two headed Aquila is from Roman times if you changed the wings to be more rounded it would'nt be a copy of GW's version, both eyes need to be open though.

GW certainly takes the fun out of it.

Oh well. At least I know what I'm capable of, now. Thanks for the kind words!!

Tell me what you want on your glass. Provide me some original artwork or just choose a font and what you want it to say. PM me and we'll work it out. Thanks!

My sandblaster knocked out the little piece of vinyl masking that would have produced the eye. So, all in all...I'm safe!! :-P
