Finally got round to painting my converted storm talon. What you guys think?

Oh wow, really like the profile of this. Looks much more like an aircraft. Like it more than the helicopter conversions I've seen since it looks like it fits much better in 40k universe.
I may have to try this on my next few Stormtalons, good job.
Quick question: It looks like you were able to invert the tail of the base stormtalon model, any advice/instructions on that? If I were to do this, I thing that's the only part I'm not certain I would have a good idea of how to do.
Very simple/effective, I like it a lot.

Thanks guys i wanted to give it a more aeroplane feel, i don't like the helicopter versions, like you said helicopters (other than Orks) in the 40k universe, you would think they would be more advanced haha.
Its not actually as complicated as it might seem. I chopped the tail on the top and bottom and just swapped them round, needed a little green stuff to fill the gaps.
I also cut the wing that were supposed to go on the engine in half and thats what i used for the little wings at the back.
and the wings that are supposed to go on the back i used on the engines as they were bigger. And as mentioned before the auto cannons are from the raven wing box.
I hope this makes sense?

Great job on the build. Good job also on reshaping the tail section also. I would have look more menacing if you did the interior or used a color film to cover the windows. So what is next? The storm Talon lends itself to be converted into many variations.

A colour film? not come across that before, how it that used? do you have any examples? I'm currently working on a command rhino with LED head lights and full interior with LED lights as well

The colored film can be found at a office supply store. look for overhead projector film slides that come in color. If not able to get it or they do not have it, then ask for acetate colored dividers. The material is the same as used on the colored tabs of the dividers. here is what I mean. they come in great for visor and canopies. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Colored+Transparency+Sheets+for+Reading&qpvt=Colored+Transparency+Sheets+for+Reading&FORM=IGRE

Ah rite thats seems awesome i never really bothered with the cockpits coz i found them to be quite a lot for a small part of the model. however i think there could be some quite effective ways of doing this. I think will start planning my next storm talon :-)

you sir have just sold me a storm talon, no jokes this changes everything for me i used to think it was an armored bumblebee but this makes it look like a sleek and sophistocated fighter jet rather than a slow and bumbling pollon gathering machine.
gotta say i love what you did with the cockpit more than anything its also a realy simple conversion that i didnt even think about, there realy are not words to say how awesome this is

This is how GW should have designed it, instead of it making looking like a flying guppy. Kudos!

I can say that I am very happy I am lazy - even though I purchased 2 of this kit months ago, I haven't done anything more than removing the plastic wrapper from the box to investigate the contents.
I am happy that I have not assembled the kit, because I much prefer this build to the official version!
Great conversion, Ichigo - consider it stolen! This is a huge improvement on the kit. The painting also looks quite excellent - this craft appears to have seen some action.
I have nothing bad to type about the painting of the cockpit - I intend to use the interior bits for other modeling projects, so I will be painting the windows in a similar manner.
Bravo.

If any one wants any more information about what paints I used ect just ask I am more than happy to share

I play dark angels and this is part of my raven wing, I don't like panting black so i paint them in this grey colour, and my local store allows anyone to use the storm talon and the storm raven in any space marine army.

I think people are being a bit harsh to the original. I love the original.
But this is badass. I like having several slightly different models for the same thing. I think it fits well with how in the 40k universe you would have old versions of the same craft that are still servicable still flying. You wouldn't be scrapping perfectly good flyers (or even mediocre ones) when there is always a planet that could use them.

This is my best work to date! shame i don't use it! i play dark angles and i used this in place of the Nephilim Jetfighter, but i didn't really think the unit is worth the points lol, for the past few months its been in the display cabinet at my local GW store. now its just on a shelf at home :-(

The guns out on the wing tips don't make much sense... when it's hovering, those guns are going to be stuck shooting up into the air.
Nice paintjob, though.

Unless they are mounted so that they can swivel 90 degrees vertically. Obviously the MODEL can't, but then the model doesn't need to swivel the wings either. Maybe "the real one" can
