Ok, so I posted a WIP some while back, and finally got these guys finished. Much respect to Orks Forge for the inspiration.

They're fairly large so you should be able to zoom in quite a bit.

Those look great. They definitely have more variety than a unit of stock Meganobz and are easily recognizable.

The pre-refresh Citadel ones, largely. They're primed white, and the basecoat is 50/50 mechrite red and blood red, with blood red highlights and a wash of Baal red.

How did you make them? Any chance of a step-by-step? They look great!

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

My OP had a link to the WIP thread, which is here. They were inspired by someone else's tutorial, which can be found here. He's not a native english speakers so the language is a little iffy but there are lots of pictures so it doesn't matter much. His are way, way better than mine so look at those instead. That one where the Ork's head is inside the armor (like a boss or whatever) is absolutely killer and I wish I had done one like that.

Also, I'd like to reiterate that building these was probably the most fun I had in all of warhams so far. It took about a week or so which I did during quiet lulls at work. Painting them was an enormous PITA but I don't like painting very much so that's not unusual. If you're thinking about trying this, you should definitely do so, it was a blast.

Also, I'd like to additionally reiterate that I done goofed a little when I did the riveting; this was my first foray into serious scratchbuilding. I used water filter beads which are ideal for economy and use, but I used a drop of model master plastic cement to set them. This was not ideal - it did provide a little bit of stick to them, but as I progressed on the build some of them popped off and needed to be re-applied. I think the basecoat and subsequent paint layers, along with the dullcote sealer will probably suffice to hold them in place during future games but it definitely is not the ideal way to do it.

If you're going to use this, get some super-thin CA and some applicator tips instead, for reals.

i have a question:

looking at your WIP you used a cylinder-like plasticard for pipes n such. Where did you get these? Only thing i can ever find that isnt salvaged from another model is cheap foam or something, so i wouldnt want to use it to begin with. Lack of different types of plasticard (or whatever the non-sheet stuff is called people use) tends to limit what i can do drastically since i cant warp it or make round objects with it.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

Do you mean the chest like on:

?

If so, that's just a piece of regular plasticard bent to shape. The other pipes are all just various sizes of styrene tubing.

I'm really happy that my MeganobZ inspire you !

For a soft critical point : You should up your nobz (now the height of soles is the same as that of the plastic shell). If you look my MANz you see I increased the height of them. I'm not english speaker, so a pic is better than a word :
