This thread is going to be the colection of rules for a campiagn my friend and I are going to start. I fiqured that as I finalize the rules I could post them on here so others can read them, comment and maybe get some ideas for thier own capmaigns. I wil be updating the often and might change some rules as we go, so the older posts might have changes to them. These posts might be a little disjointed but I will try and keep all the related info together, please bear with me on this.

I play Orks and have around 9000 points, my friends plays IG as his main army, which he has about 8000 points, then he has around 3000 points in Blood Angels also. For the campaign we have decided to each make a list of 10,000 points, not counting upgrades to start with. For the campaign we will be playing in that if a unit dies it is gone. We will be playing a map based campaign that will span across many planets. The winner will be decided by a set number of "Conquest Points" that is needed. We will have special rules for units to advance and get veteran skills and ways to replenish destroyed units. There is going to be artifacts that can be found on death worlds that add lots of bonuses. I came up with a simple space battle that is card based, but I think that will have to wait for another time. I will explain these in more detail later.

So this is the start of it and if anyone has any comments of suggestions please feel free to chime in. Keep in mind that we play for fun but I do want a structured rule set so that it is fair and everyone knows what to expect.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Veteran Skills

The idea for veteran skills come from the 5th edition rulebook. It had a simple system and chart kinda like this. I have updated the chart for 6th edition and have some added rules.
* Each game plays each player can nominate one unit that has survived with half or more of it's starting models, this unit can not have already been nominated before. That unit then gets to roll on the chart of your choice and if you get a result that that unit already has then you may reroll on the same chart until you get a result you can use.
* Once the unit gets a veteran status that unit becomes unique for the campaign. Being unique will mainly mean that each player will have to keep track of where it is on the campaign map.
* Like other units if this Veteran unit gets destroyed it is gone for good.

Here is a link to anothe rthread I started with the charts for the veteran status

This is cool sounding, mind pm-ing me details about the card game version of the space battles.

Dark Legion/The Awoken (Renegade Space Marines) 12,000 + points

We have awoken, and all is dust!

How to make friends in 40k when the universe is a big place and no one will miss you.

It is still real rough in its design but I could give you the basic idea. I wanted to create something that could track point value of troops to and from planets and to simulate space fleets occuping planets. If anyone has ever played a card game called warlord it is kinda based off of that with elements of a 40k game put in place. For those that haven't it is what I call a rank system, like the following.

a
aaa
aaaaa

bbbbb
bbb
b

Each one of those would be a ship with "a" being one player and "b" being the other.

-Each ship would have these stats BS*I*AV*HP*Sv. AV would start out at 10 and some would be higher, Sv would start out at 5+ and get better on some ships. HP would start out at 1 and maybe go up to 5.
-Weapons would have a "R" rank stat as well as S* and rate of fire. The rank would be how far away you could shoot it. A ship with a R3 weapon could be in the last row and still fire on the front row of your opponent. Example is Weapon Battery R2*S6*RoF2. Some ships would have a special rule called combine fire which would allow you to combine shots of the same weapon by multiple ships which would keep the RoF but would increase the S* and BS* for each one.
-Some ships will have torpedoes, which are fired before anyone goes and target any ship in range. At the end of the turn the torpedoes hit their target if the target is still there or the torpedo is still around. They can be shot down by precision shots.
-Some ships would have a transport capacity starting at 2000 points, these are used to transport units to planets to use for games.
-Some ships would have special rules that could be used in a 40K game if you won the space battle, like an orbital bombardment or bonuses to your reserve rolls.

Rules
So each player would line up what ever ships they want to be at that planet. You have to have them in "rank" which means the bottom rank always has to have the same or more ships than the rank above it. The first rank would take hits before the ranks behind them like how the rules work for 40k games now, precision shots are in effect and any ship may use these. Precision shots can shoot down torpedoes before they detonate also.

Each player goes at the same time and it starts at initiative like close combat does in 40k. After each ship shoots then it is "tapped" and can't be used again for that turn. Each turn would be one campaign turn and each player would add up how many HP they inflicted and the player with the higher number wins that turn. The winner would then be able to apply some of the special rules to a battle played at the planet they orbit.

This is all still under development and there are more rules which I will try and fill in the post after I get it all done.

Conquest Points

The way to win the campaign is to get enough Conquest Points equal to what is set before the campaign starts as the winning point total. For our campaign I think we will start out with 15 CP needed in order to win the campaign. There are different ways to gain control points and before the campaign starts each player will choose a Campaign Tactic that will allow Conquest Points through other means, this can not be changed in the campaign.

1 CP for each 40k game won
1 CP for each Artifact found
1 CP for each Campaign Warlord Killed
3 CP for each planet completely taken over

Campaign Tactics
Elite Strike Force: 1 CP for each Kill Team game won.
Head Hunter: 1 CP for each warlord killed.
Treasure Hunter: 1 CP for each artifact found.
Planet Defender: 1 CP for each game won as the defender.
Conquer and Destroy: 1 CP for each game won as the attacker.

So there is a chance that someone could get 4 CP a turn and 7 on a turn that they conquer a planet, this would be hard to do but possible. So with us playing to 15 CP it should be at least 3 turn, but probably a lot more than that.

So I asked a question about some campaign army rules in regards to reiforcements in this thread in the proposed rules forum. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
