Hey guys I'm working on an Astral claws Army but I don't really like codex Marines and already love BA's so I'm going to use the BA codex for the marine contingent of my Tyrants legion and the Guard codex as allies for my Auxilia. I'm thinking of using Vendettas or manticore behind an Aegis Defence Line, also I don't know much about guard should I squad the vendettas to get more on the table? Is there a better heavy support choice than a manticore? Also for the troops I was thinking about bringing conscripts because of how cheap they are. Will they be worth the points to provide security and essentially be a meat shield for the manticore or Marines?

We are winged salvation, but we are a terrible, final salvation, and our wings embrace the horizon with fire. We are the Blood Angels. To confront us is to die, and death is my remit, my reality, my unbounded domain. I have known death, and defeated it, claimed it as my own. To my cost, to my strength, death is my one gift to bestow, and I am nothing if not generous.

IIRC for conscripts they're part of a platoon, so (again IIRC) you have to buy at least two infantry squads and a PCS for the platoon

Okay, this topic pretty much sums up my own search for useful IG allies for regular SM.

For the vendetta squads, more than 2 seem like wasting fire. What kind of target requires ~7 LC hits per round?
2 could be useful. If the first one loses hull points, the 2nd takes point at full health and both can fire on for a while.

Correct.

In case of the manticore, I haven't fielded one yet, but the local gaming club absolutely fears them.

So what would be the best option for a troop choice and HQ that is cheap?

You should take a minimum sized platoon, that's the platoon command squad, 2 squads with lascannons and then take a CCS with lascannon for your HQ. Place troops behind aegis with quad gun and manticore. Wait for dual vendettas to fly on. Should be around 700 points off the top of my head for the allied contingent.
