Hello all.
I've been lurking around here for a little while now. I figured I might as well just give in and join up. I only recently started getting back into wargaming/miniatures.
I got my first taste of wargaming back in the early '90s when I was a wee young 'un. My father and uncle would have large scale historical battles at my grandmother's
house using their old lead soldiers they had from when they were kids. We're talking massive naval and land engagements with scratchbuilt fleets of warships that
would circle my grandmother's house.
Around the time my oldest brother entered junior high, he got into 40k. Prior to that he'd been into D&D, so I suppose it was the logical next step. My first experience
with 40k was probably one a lot of others here had; Space Hulk. I used to love that game. He also had Hero Quest and what I think may have been Epic, I'm not really
sure, but it was a large boxed set with tiny space marines, tanks, a Titan, and a slew of Eldar units. The gaming and miniatures kind of fell by the wayside once he got into
high school though and my army and both of my brothers' armies were either sold off of just plain lost.
Fast forward to now and just this summer I got the urge to buy some Dust Tactics figures. I wanted to pain them in cold weather gear and first I wanted to practice, so I grabbed
one of those cheapie 3-man Space Marine sets to practice painting white on. Well, that just snowballed and now I've got a whole bunch of Space Marines, Dark Eldar, Chaos,
Tyranids, and even an old Land Raider my Dad found that my brother had built but never painted way back in the 90s.

I collect other stuff too, mostly Japanese toys and models. This hobby has actually helped me a lot to improve my painting skills.
