So i orderd a Devilfish(among other things) from the GW site. It was scheduled for delivery today from UPS. But i went to check the progress, They decided to transfer it to my Local post office. Extending shipping by two day(and since mail isnt delivered on Saturday Sunday it wont arrive until tuesday) Needless to say im pissed. But does GW do this often?

That's odd. Have you had issues with UPS before?

My friend had issues with UPS ever since he moved to his new house. They would update the tracking with "Tried to deliver, but no one was home" when his wife was home, "Address not found" when he has a fething house, and things like that. About 1 package in 3 had serious delivery issues.
I hope you get your gak, man. Call UPS and bitch.

Apparently Smart Post saves the shipper a couple dollars a package but screws the deliveree by making them wait longer...

Here in Israel most people I talk with have trouble with UPS. First and foremost they are much more expensive to ship here than most other shipping options; they also tend to have a lot of trouble with the customs.
I prefer to order stuff through the FLGS - while they do bulk orders from GW once in a while base on what people order from them, which means that sometimes an order could take 1-3 months to get to me, I know I can trust them, and they are experienced with dealing with the customs and with blunders at GW's side. Also, shipping from them is dirt-cheap - 35 ILS (less than $10) for registered mail regardless of your order's size. Or you can pick up the order directly from them (an hour by train from me and about the same cost of registered mail for a roundtrip).

I Called UPS than GW, Their Answer amounted to "Im sorry Sir, But i cannot Help you, you should have paid for faster shipping if you wanted it by monday" I though two weeks was more then enough. And my Local FLGS is worse. The orders are only put in once a week and then shipped out two weeks later.

Fortunately I have a GW near my office. So anytime I order from GW I have it shipped there. It's free and I don't have to deal with lots of delays.
Either way, I've also had UPS (and FedEx) guys claim we weren't home when we were. One time I heard the truck pull up so I went to the door and opened it. The guy was just about to slap a "sorry you weren't home" sticker on the door. He didn't have a package in his hand and obviously hadn't bothered to ring the door bell or knock. He looked a bit embarrassed as he had to go back to the truck and pull out my package...

If you paid for UPS and received USPS, you should ask for some monies back.

2 weeks is more than enough. I would have had some rather nasty words for that UPS person. Call back and ask to speak to a manager. Continue to make an ass out of yourself until they bring you your gak.
That's the Kronk way.

UPS SmartPost does that. UPS transfers it near you, then gives to USPS. Similiar to DHL. I've had that happen, it kinda sucks waiting extra days.

I'm having the same issue here. Put in an order over the holidays and it's been in my area since Saturday and only yesterday it's been transfered to the Post Office. It looks like they're still backed up from the holidays or they are specifically delaying packages to try and give incentive for express delivery.
I'm just assumming the holidays made everything a confusing mess with their hours and delivery rates.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

First of all I work in International Shipping.
1. Ups handing off to USPS is completely normal (sadly). It has happened to me twice and USPS feths it all up. SImply put it is cheaper and easier on the shipping companies.
2. Shipping to Israel is hard. IT takes a long time to clear alll the legal hurdles. But at least your not like the Phillipines where every customs agent is looking for a payoff.
3. Call and complain to GW that you are not appreciative of their choice of shipper. Thats really all you can do.

That's the problem with free shipping. The shipper gets to pick whichever method is best for them no matter how slow it is.

GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.

I've had this come up before and it's how GW does free shipping. My only guess is that they have a cheaper contract with UPS instead of the USPS so most of the shipping is done with them, but UPS gives it to the USPS instead of wasting time on making the final delivery since they rank it as a lower priority than the other stuff they have to deliver.

It's not just GW. Lots of businesses use Smart Post because it saves them thousands of dollars a month.
It just sucks for the end user.

I on the other hand, am willing to pay MORE for UPS most of the time and request UPS. I loathe FedEx. I'll go UPS > USPS > FedEx
