I'll update this thread as I get more and more on it and start painting it, but here is the bare bones of it so far.... 

 

I wanted a Basilisk that didn't look IG since the Iron Warriors are seige masters they should have thier own weapons constructed so I went to town on this thing.

 

One question to you all...  I think it looks more massive and somewhat more evil without the blast shield that goes over the Earthshaker barrell, should I use that or not?

I dont think you should use the shield, it just obscures alot of the detail on the gun.

Blast shield ? For what ? To protect the unworthy slaves who have to operate that glorious weapon of destruction ?
That is some damn mean looking artillerie.

Looking good! I agree....no gun shield. Keep that bad boy out in the open. I think the GW gun shield looks corny anyways. Keep it up.

If this was my project, I'd cut out the back half of the roof and drop the gun into the rhino's hold. It looks too top heavy at the moment. After sinking the gun, I probably reduce the size of the loading platform as well.

Definately a good idea going with the rhino hull, much more lW than just a repainted basilisk.

looks good, but why the bulldozer thing on the back?

Its a recoil spade, keeps the vehicle from being rolled back when it fires. Pretty common on real-world artillery pieces both towed and self propelled.

I like it - much more solid looking, like a proper SP Gun. And yes, definately more evil without the shield....

The heavy bolter is in a "wrong" place IMO though. With all the track components, suspensions and whatnot, there would be absolutely no space for it at that point.

My Prepaint update for it...




And it also had Parasitic Possession and after wracking my brain to figure out how to represent it, I came up with the idea that Iron Warriors "parasites" would probably be small repair servitors that would run around the hull fixing things and keeping things operational... after then wracking my brain some more on how to model that, I came across extra Epic Terminators my friend had. Thier storm bolters are positioned PERFECT for representing little arc welders or whatever and they resemble little tiny servitors...

Very nice idea ! And even more evil looking. Just be careful that your mini servitors do not look like little statues.

I hate to suggest more work but I think you really should mount the gun inside the hull. On top of the rhino just looks awkward.

I think the heavy bolter on the sponson looks the most awkward, it would be much better placed as either a pintle mount, or in the actual hull. Otherwise it looks fine to me. I'd also suggest adding more epic termies, and even converting many of them with little bitz of wire and what not (ie: arc welding, buzz saws, construction type stuff). This would further play up (and clearly visualize) your intent at having them rep "parasitic possession". Great idea, just needs a little more!

It'd be awesome if you mold some kind of demon head at the end of the barrel. That way it looks like some behemoth is belching unholy fire onto the quaking masses of the False Emporer's believers.
